Our political climate is increasingly divided by tribal loyalties rather than by ideological differences, and we’ll explore what explains this. How can we avoid the pull of tribalism in our own thinking about politics and in making decisions about getting involved in political causes?

This video was recorded at AynRandCon in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 3, 2018.

Once you realize that everything is tribalism, you will have a much better understanding of the world. Every group, every team, every family every church group, every club, every social gathering, it is all tribalism.

Politics would be a field of endeavor very vulnerable to tribalism since political actions are, by nature, very adversarial. "The 'swing to the right' is a movement away from collectivism and statism toward individualism and liberty". The individualism/collectivism split is the "line in the sand" that is the necessary conflict point. However that is established at a different level in philosophy, with respect to political action, is the irreducible primary. Now, we have a situation that is not of that order. It was created when, shortly after the election of 2016. Larry Kudlow said on his show before he joined the Administration "Trump is the Republican party and the Republican party is Trump [that set the stage fro the GOP and Conservatives pretzellating what is left of their mentalities to evade the facts and truths that would shatter their cult of personality]" That is the essence of tribalism in politics so now you have the Left and Democrats appealing to some, albeit rudimentary and shallow, level of principles vs the "Heil Donald!" pure tribalism of the Trumpbotss. In this case, the 'crats are mentally and intellectual superior by appealing to some kind of systematic, organized, at least somewhat coherent, albeit wrong, set of tenets as opposed to "Trump good. Trump opposition bad", in which case we have been read out of the party in it's lurch toward the Ominous Parallels
