Season Two of the Future Imperfect podcast. An interview with me. This one we've done some ODD generated animation video to go along with the voice. Let me know in the comments what you think of it.
Other audio-only podcasts are available where you normally find your podcasts.
Thanks to Nat Tapley for his work on this.

Feels like something Monty Python would put together.

Poor Mr. Kingsley. He had that cup in his hand the entire interview and never took a drink.

If Monty Python and South Park had a baby…

I think this could work if it used some simple medieval-style drawings of you two, instead of modified photo images. As it is it has a bit of an uncanny valley effect.

Love the animation, haha!
Reminds me of something medieval, though I can't put my finger on why.
EDIT: Also, Jason sounds like such a cool down-to-earth bloke you'd have a great time hanging out with. Could listen to him ramble on for hours.

Oh how this brings such lovely vibes of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I hate podcasts, but I love this!

As far as the roman soldier, he was probably thinking, "How can I get rid of these lice?"

Congratulations on your CBE, your podcasts are excellent and stand alone they need no visual gimmicks.

Why do you need animations anyway? It woiuld be better to add some pictures relevant to the topic discussed, even if static

Thank you Jason I enjoyed this podchast. You are a very interesting person because you have a wide range of interests and are always looking and questioning. Never stop!

Jason, really enjoy your channel and I'll check out your book. Also thank you. There aren't many people with your distinctly non-Medieval success who have managed to use that success so fruitfully. You may not be upending the world with Modern History, but you certainly bring a lot of entertainment, joy, and education to a lot of people. Keep on being the wonderfully bizarre tech-geek/medieval-geek. Hope Mule with No Name is doing well.

I don't know how much effort goes into this sort of animation, but I don't think it's worth it. Looks slightly horrid at best.

My honest opinion is---like many others here---it gives me instant Monty Python vibes. It made me giggle and I enjoy it very much! I wasn't sure I could watch an entire video of it, but it occurred to me that I don't usually watch podcast videos 100% anyway. I usually put them on and listen to them while doing housework, coming back every now and again to look at it.
So I thought the animation was a fun deviation from the usual! And having Jason on the interviewee end of the conversation this time was great! Thank you both for this. 🙂

Specialization and generalization have similar limitations. Specialization, as you said is knowing more and more about less and less until you know everything about nothing. But by the same token, the limit of generalization is knowing less and less about more and more until you know nothing about everything. The moral of the story: there is a balance to everything.

The problem of the shareholder driven business is that it is short term thinking. The problem is that CEOs are being rewarded on short term performance of the stock (and really stock price should never be considered, the performance of a company through dividends makes more sense). Boeing is a big example of this, and the reason why the company destroyed its reputation. On the other hand, bonuses can be delayed 20 years to reward long term performance. That would encourage CEO to build systems that ensure the long-term health of the company. Cust cutting the reduces reliability will destroy long-term performance. That would be better for the investors (and too often we think of those shareholders as some kind of evil capitalist, but what people forget is that WE are those investors, very often, through mutual funds or other personal investment; the little guys are the ones who suffer when the long term health of a company is not considered). So the public stocks are not the problem per se, but the short term rewards system associated with it.

It's not odd just British humor. Very interesting topics.

There is a really neat technique the animation/commentary youtubers use, where they will have 5-10 presets like angry, sad, neutral, suprised, pointing, thinking etc. and they can change those every few seconds depending on what they are saying in the video, which is a bit more pleasant to look at, as this form is a bit jittery.

However, I think people tend to listen to podcasts more than watch them, but if you definitely want visuals, you could use an animated looping background (tavern, meadow, fireplace etc.) with you and your guests inserted into the scene as static drawings/characters, with the occasional crossfade to a picture of whatever you may be talking about at that moment, if there is a need for visuals.

I think with those visuals, a medieval focused podcast with historians, artisans and reenactors as guests could go far!

That is a jarring visual my goodness hahahaha. I rarely watch videos, as I use them for listening as I work. This is perfect for adding something interesting hopefully without too much work. Nicely done.

I really like the podcast. The animation isn't bothering me because I listened while doing some mindless tasks, so I wasn't watching the entire time.

I found the content fascinating. Jason, you are very interesting and down to earth. Thanks for sharing this aspect of yourself.

I don't know how intentional this is, but: it's hilarious!

I like the animation, it does remind me of Monty Python and similar animations. I watch, and sometimes I just listen, but I really liked this. And congratulations on your award!🎉
