Ive had this wishlisted since it popped up on Steam. Grew up playing the Homeworld series with my Dad, and still own the physical copies too. Biggest slept on RTS series. The Myth series and Homeworld were ahead of their time.

Tbh I'm sad they didn't go with the animated cinematics, they really set the tone for Homeworld games

Homeworld 1's amazing gameplay was outdone by its story and possibly the music as well. You got a sense of desperation from the first few missions, to the point where tears form just from seeing your frozen colonists being blasted away, without even seeing a human shape only just a rectangle, and you truly felt the NEED to save those colonists. And then, going through the nebula, where you just discover more about your past and how your cousins survived (and being forced to kill them), and later when the Bentusi reveal exactly what happened to your ancestors 4000 years ago... just remembering seeing those refugee ships fail, and how few actually survived the journey to Kharak, is just heartbreaking. You didn't just want to beat the game, you needed to save your people from extinction no matter the cost.

You can tell they used Deserts of Kharak as a kind of experiment game for this. Love the Homeworld series and this looks fantastic.

Minor nitpick on the aesthetics - the uniforms in the cutscene at 0:22 are godawful, they look like cosplay at a Trek convention.
