I am Brazilian and I live in China. WeChat is our world here, it’s convenient and practical. My friends and family use it so we can make video calls. It makes our lives easier here for sure.

Yes I do have Wechat. I lived in China, more specifically in Shanghai for 5 years. It’s one of the best apps I’ve ever used. WeChat was able to make on-line payment, transfers and paying bills way before even ApplePay starts. Chinese market its a rocket-ship!!!

If it's already hard to totally trust a company that manages personal data and communications in the US (for example), why would one trust a Chinese?

A company subjected to strong gov't censure and control, and an owner we know nothing about are huge redflags IMO.

If it's useful for your business with the Chinese, make sure the data you use to sign up to them are totally disconnected to other data used in other apps and systems. Create a second you.

I talk to you from China 🇨🇳, here in China without wechat almost you can’t live, and off course there is ALIPAY and TAOBAO and JINGDONG but none is as powerful as wechat, let’s be honest, we can not blame wechat for monitoring us because which app does not do so, then let it be but other than that it’s a great app and has made life much easier in many aspects for everyone who is in China 🇨🇳 and in some aspects out of China 🇨🇳, China 🇨🇳 is a respectable nation and they are rocketing by each second passes.
