If you switch the scope in AC mode it'll show the correct graph (squarwave). Another thing to mention is holding F4-key while turning on will turn off the key beeps.

I found that the 'scope works best if range switch is set to ACV. When set to DCV it has poor compensation, giving the distorted square wave seen in the video. Note that even with the switch in ACV position, the scope input is DC coupled, so it can be used to measure both AC and DC voltages.

Is there a better multimeter oscilloscope model available in 2021? I just want a cheap oscilloscope

One of the worst things about the 8208 is the scope's ranging: It goes 1-3 instead of 1-2-5 like every other scope[meter]. This often makes it impossible to fit the viewed waveform in the display window for a good view. It also makes it very difficult to read fractions of a division, as each subdivision is now 3/5 = 0.6 units.

I am shocked i have been following you for some time and this is the second video that told me that you have new videos.
I am back into the automotive repair work again as well as doing more automotive electrical and a couple of other fixes one being a 55 inch HDMI cable port being fixed now the station i have is like a cheap 100 dollar one good for basic wire tining and light repairs.
Takes way to long .
I have a bunch of clusters that I want to start fixing and or selling reprogramming odometer and LEDs repair. I have done stepper motor replacements but takes forever with the cheap station i have.
Any suggestions and if you have made a bench top tour yet.
I did watch the new video of that china station and was actually looking at buying that one tell i got to the end and said nope.

Though I am still glad I bought the 8208, here is another problem with it:
The probes it comes with have tips that are narrower than standard probes. If used with another meter, these probes make poor / intermittent connections.
Likewise, the probe sockets on the 8208 meter are extra-narrow, making it very difficult to insert and remove standard banana plugs.

I like your review, especially clarifying the capacitor testing (mf) with the different jack. I am glad it works. And the capacitor update needed to the manual. All that originally held me off (partially) from the purchase. Now it hasn't. Do you possibly still have the special pricing around $50??

Is the oscilloscope good for laptop repair?

I would say its great for mechanics and in the field work. I will stick to my siglent for the bench. I do like the idea of it for my tool bag in the truck though. If someone is really tight on the budget for bench scope look at Owon and Hantek. If you spare an extra 50-100 look at siglent and rigol. Real endorsement at the end. "ehhh Hey its not bad"
