Hey friends, join me live as I look at Alex O'Connor and Cliff and Stuart Knechtle's conversation about the Book of Job. O'Connor says that God is terrifying because of Job. Knechtle says God is loving. But who is right? Also, what is the story of Job REALLY about?? Let's get right into it :)

Job's message is TRUST, trusting on God that he will Carry you over anything life throws your way!

The more I discuss and study the book of Job, the more I love it. It is such a wealth of knowledge and understanding that provides wonderful answers to literally the worst tragedies.

Some of the most profound verses in the Bible…
“I know my Reedemer lives, and that in the end He will stand on the earth. And after my skin is destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God. I myself will see Him with my own eyes-I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!”
Job 19:25-27

reminds me of a quote: "Suffering- the gift that no-one wants..."...God often uses suffering to help us hear, to help us grow, to help us let go of lies we've believed, and to help us learn to appreciate things (and His love for us)...

I'm a missionary from Germany and publisher of evangelical literature. I watched your videos for the last weeks almost every day. They are so helpful, even more helpful than some of the Studies I had at Seminary. I praise GOD for giving you this talent. Love you Bro. In Christ. Ben from Germany.

I love Alex because he pushes us as Christians to be consistent with the biblical text.

there is one thing that the Lord has said to me on more than one occasion, and it’s that, “without grief, you have no growth.”

Thanks for putting a magnifying glass on the Book of Job. I like what you said, that we need to learn to suffer well. That suffering can bring perfection by the things we learn in the process.
Looking back on times that I suffered, it was when I said "I trust you" that was what I needed to learn. I learned how to trust God in a new way.

Wow! This may be the greatest video on YouTube ever.

When you say God is who we NEED Him to be it shook the whole atmosphere. We have these thoughts of what we want and what we deserve how we think we need xyz.. but God knows what we NEED. Suffering is a process of life that will be used to show God faultless face to those who may not know Him and strengthen our need for Him. This is amazing, God is amazing! Thank you. Thank Jesus!

Nate, as a fan from way back when you were a sub-1k channel, i'd like to applaud this today. One of your very best editions. Thank you sincerely. And so glad to see your channel expand and grow the way it has. To God all the glory, but be rightly pleased with your success to date.

Excellent teaching Pastor. The solace in suffering is not knowing why but knowing The Who. God bless you

I can see where Cliffe is coming from, and I can see where he’s making his point but I’ve watched that whole podcast and when I first read job ( I’ve only read it once) I thought that the only way this makes sense is to teach Job and others who hear his story the lesson of trusting God even when you don’t understand why or what he is doing.

Nate I thank God that he has used you so powerfully. I've never understood Job as a book that shows us how to suffer. That teaches us the wisdom of knowing the who (God) instead of the why. Thank you brother.

I had a professor who said Job is NOT about suffering. He said Job represented all believers. Job is justified by God (called righteous). He’s a believer challenged by everyone but Job knows he has a redeemer and a savior (19:25-29). Job maintains his integrity and does not lie and curse God saying he deserves death so he cries out to God and is answered. Job receives comfort and closure. This view harmonizes well with the rest of scripture and explains Job 19 which most people don’t address (like those in the video).

I would love to see Nate and Alex get into a formal discussion or debate, it would be a wonderful thing to witness.

anyways I'm glad you left that bit at 16:21 in xD

P.S. I was in the middle of replying to a comment before the original VOD got sniped 😔

This is powerful and thought-provoking. I have a good pastor who has preached on suffering having a purpose and I'm thankful he laid the ground work. This message, Mr. Nate, really drove the point home and you truly given me much to seek and to pray about so that I can be a better disciple. Thank you for allowing God to use you.

Wow, love your take and clarity of answer and explanation. When you asked the question, my answer was the insistence of men to be and know what God knows and how we are not able to comprehend His majesty and ways. So instead of focusing on understanding, you focus on God, you will resist and beat the suffering and come out better and closer to God.

My mind didn't even went to the fact that satan accused God and Job of been transactional, and Job was demonstrating he thought the same and how that was what he learned at the end. Wow! So true and simple and right on our faces!! So when suffering happens, do it well. 😊

Nate, your ability to guide us in seeing God’s word is a true blessing. My oldest brother died of cancer this past Sunday. I was with him from Thursday to Saturday, and seeing my beautiful brother go thru suffering was devastating. But as I sat there praying over him, all I could think about was God and how His son endured a slow, torturous death. God had to witness the suffering of His beautiful son. And now I look at life and God differently.
