A Strange Loop is the most Tony-nominated musical this season, with 11 nominations, including Best Musical and Best Book of a Musical. This show is incredible, and you have to go see it. Why? Well, you’ll have to watch this video to find out.

A Strange Loop (Music, Lyrics, and Book by Michael R. Jackson) stars Jaquel Spivey as Usher and L Morgan Lee, James Jackson, Jr., John-Michael Lyles, John-Andrew Morrison, Jason Veasey, and Antwayn Hopper as Thoughts 1-6.

(Let me know what you think about the new setup!)

Thanks for watching! ✌

I saw it last night, and this was the first show that made me retrospect on my own life so deeply. I have never wanted to cry so much in a theater.

Everyone can get something from the show. Growing up in the black church, seeing Tyler Perry plays (then films), it hits different. Truly, the lyrics to "Periodically" and "Memory Song" were enough for the Pulitzer alone. *subscribed*

no because michael r jackson did not have to take us to church and break our hearts at the same time! i loved it!!!! loved your analysis! i saw it in the front row and the actors engaged with me in a way that I felt like i was getting a private concert! it resonated soo deeply with me. obviously idk how deeply the palm colored audiences members connected to it but the other black people in the audience were getting down!! i think i am in a strange loop of my own. great video!

A Strange Loop is the best thing I've seen in a theatre in so, so many years.

I saw it last week and it is a brilliant, BRILLIANT creation. It is fearless, shocking, revolutionary, but besides all that it is stunningly entertaining. The audience I saw it with was roaring from start to finish and as you pointed out, largely white, and I think that’s because that’s who is most likely to see Broadway shows. Still there were young black people seated near me who were overwhelmingly moved and I hope more and more will see it as word spreads. It is mind blowing for anyone who is open to its message. People have see it to grasp what you, I, and everyone else who has seen it are talking about.

I saw a song from the musical on the
Tony awards. It looked interesting
but I liked that it was something new
which is in short supply on Broadway.

When Broadway does revive a play
or musical it is usually a safe investment
like Funny Girl or The Music Man.
I am waiting for a revival of Ain't Supposed
to Die a Natural Death which is more
relevant now than when it premiered
on Broadway in the early 1970's.
I like your reviews. Keep up the awesome
work!

What do you mean, you don’t understand how [Strange Loop] made it to Broadway?

I just saw the show on Juneteenth in LA, and LOVED it! No surprise that it was awarded the Pulitzer as well as Tony awards! Spectacular!

A really nice synopsis of the show and a very intelligent interpretation for individuals haven't seen it. What a great understanding of how we perceive people by the way we think of them. I hadn't thought of that before but you're spot on! Truly, one of the most raw, vulnerable pieces since Slave Play. Very few shows have that "staying power" in your mind after seeing it and I can't get it out of my head since the end of June. I'm a Cisgender, caucasian gay man but there were so many elements that could speak to SO MANY different types of people... queer people, BIPOC people, people of differing body sizes... it gave a voice and a powerful mirror to hold up to yourself and also to be represented on a major stage (literally and figuratively). Great video and I'll def be tuning in again!

I loved your review! I don't think I'll ever be able to see it live, though, since I live in the third world and sadly black narratives in my country are usually not considered "profitable enough" to make a local production. I hope one day I'll be able to see it live, but until then I'll look for a bootleg

Love your content & LOVED ASL, which I just saw yesterday. Your breakdown of it was spot on…I can’t wait to go back. I’ve lived in NYC for 20+ years & see almost everything & I have never seen anything like ASL.
