From our isolation, we reach out in celebration. It has been said so often, these are trying times. This is a crisis that seeks to separate and divide us. Yet we are one, and together we will shape our tomorrow.
Locked down in basements, dorm rooms and bedrooms from rural Ontario, to Trinidad and Tobago, from the GTA to Jamaica and Barbados, gospel artists and students came together in a song of hope and the celebration of tomorrow. Across cultures, across geography, across genres, the message rings out to the world, “one by one,” we can, and we must be the change.
Conceived in the uniquely creative mind of Trinidad-born and Canada-based Joshua Ali, the uplifting and soul-stirring song was composed and arranged in collaboration with Marvin Thomas (Trinidad) and Adda Edwards (Canada) for such a time as this. Recorded in lockdown near Odessa, Ontario, and by isolated artists in North York, Jamaica, Whitby and all across Trinidad and Tobago, this sweeping modern-day musical masterpiece is truly a well-woven tapestry of talent, culture and musical prowess with contributions from powerful Caribbean-centric artistes such as Positive, Jaron Nurse, Sean Daniel, Sherwin Gardner, Nathanael Hamilton, Nisa, Sherieta Lewis, Jai Symone alongside the creators, Joshua and Adda.
"WE are the ones" who can and will make a lasting and impacting change in our world, and this is the soundtrack to that movement.
