I LOVE digging potatoes. It is like an Easter egg hunt- so much fun. Taters we harvested from our gardens were HUGE this year! Feeling blessed.

Harvesting potatoes is so much fun! This video is two years old….it’s June 2023 now. Last year was my first time and I grew in four 5 gallon buckets. Oh man…I couldn’t believe how many potatoes I got! They were delicious. I giggled and laughed out loud when I saw potatoes in the dirt!! Like I said, it was my first time ever growing potatoes….how fun it is!!

Potatoes have been an ego boost in an already rough growing season this year. I work them in containers, but love seeing folks who are able to put them in the ground. It is satisfying to think one potato can create so many others. :)

Hi there Lonely Pines Farm! I'm Subscribed. I did a second try of planting several bags of potatoes over the 2024 Spring season. I had noticed that the red skin potatoes vines in one bag wasn't looking its usual spring self over the past few weeks, I could see that the bag felt heavier and thought that was strange until I did some YouTube checking. Yesterday I harvested that one bag, leaving the other bags to continue their separate journeys. This was my second adventure, my first was 2022, so from a few pieces of one "eyed Potatoe, " I harvested fourteen varied sized reskinned potatoes. Really nice size! Surprised but I am happy with this harvest and have been encouraged to let the other bags of varied types of potatoes continue growing. Getting another bag or tub started while my area of Washington zone 9a is still getting some sunlight along with the rain. However, here's why I tuned in today for you and your wife's knowledge, I didn't know how to cure the red potatoes. Thanks, to you both for the information. I will not rinse them, but I will sew a burlap bag together and store them in my garage for Fall, Winter or early Spring use. God bless!

This was my first year of planting potatoes. I’m at Wisconsin zone 5B. I planted a small bed of russet potatoes and another small bed, of purple majesty potatoes. Both pretty small cause I didn’t really know what I was doing. I wanted to try it out. The russet potatoes got planted earlier, foliage died back and I harvested them today. I am really impressed with harvest. I haven’t had a chance to weigh them yet but it looks great. God has really blessed me with bountiful harvest. Praise God.

I dig them up when I'm ready to eat them. After Thanksgiving Day, I dig up the rest. This way my potatoes last twice as long. My Grandaughter had the genius idea of leaving the tiny ones in the ground. They come up and start growing in May and that's a sign for me to start chitting what few potatoes I have left from the previous year.

Glad you mentioned having two seasons but also acknowledged NOT having two season. Most youtube garden channels seem to think the world lives in california.

Thanks, brother! I put a shoot from a purple potato in my front yard and it really took off, the vine spread a whole bunch. Wasn’t sure where to start in order to harvest it. This video helps.
May God bless you, sir.

Pro tip: when harvesting, bring your containers with you, so you don't have to pick up your potatoes twice

June-2023..Southeast Michigan…I have two 20 pound grow bags with huge plants that did flower last week. No signs of dying off yet. But I had three days of bucket rain! I was out securing up my pepper plants and bean plants. They got hammered! But thankfully none broke at the main stem. So…when it drys up, I’m going digging!
