Heatwaves are ripping through North America, Europe, and Asia, with the global hottest day ever recorded at the start of July.

The heat has sparked intense wildfires threatening homes and livelihoods, as well as supercharged torrential rains in some areas, leading to extreme weather events such as flash flooding and landslides. Here is a look at how the extreme heat has affected half of the planet.

Here in Quebec, Canada, we have been having so many wildfires, there are days we can't even breathe outside... The sky becomes orange and it smells like we are standing right next to a firepit.

I'm gonna make a guess.. It would be as hot as a desert in most places just 50 years from now.

Toronto it is OK. We are also next to a lake. Things are going to get really bad in the coming years. Apocalyptic.

Here in Somalia. It is 28-29c all through the year.
Blue sky every day. It's hot but we have dry heat no humidity and its windy.
It's nice.

Here from western Canada. It’s been the most mild summer we’ve had in a while. Broke records for coolest summer in some places. Bc gov cut forest fires funding from around 800 mil to around 30 mil this year…

We’re dead

In the United States, definitions also vary by region. They usually involve a period of at least two or more days of excessively hot weather. In the Northeast, a heat wave typically when the temperature reaches or exceeds 90 °F (32.2 °C) for three consecutive days.

I am scared for my children’s future. More wild fires will lead to more deforestations and further contribute to the global warming. It’s a vicious cycle.

Oiye! From AZ! It’s been hot but I feel for those places that don’t have culture of keeping cool. I grew up here and heat is just part of our lives. However, other places aren’t prepared for these temps.
