Freddy King - Hide Away

From the LP "Let's Hide Away and Dance Away with Freddy King", KING LP 773. Originally released in 1961, this is the 2010 Sundazed reissue.

This cheap Sundazed reissue sounds horrible (44kHz / 16 bit...) but since it's unlikely that I'll ever manage to get an original copy, I settled for this.

NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED!

Recording setup:
- Pro-Ject RPM 5.1 SE turntable with a 3mm thick felt mat;
- Denon DL-110 cartridge;
- Fred Nachbaur High Precision Tube Phono preamp (self built), fitted with NOS Philips Miniwatt Tubes, Russian K40y9 PIO caps, Russian K72 Teflon caps, and Intertechnik Audyn Cap Plus caps;
- Nuova Elettronica FET (solid state) preamp for subsonic frequencies removal, fitted with Russian K40y9 PIO caps and Intertechnik Audyn Cap Plus caps;
- Tascam US-122 MKII audio interface.

Audio recorded at 96 kHz/24 bit with Audacity and encoded as FLAC with Openshot video editor.
Please watch in 1080p for the best audio quality. :)

When I had a 5 piece blues band (me on vocals and guitar, other guitar, bass, drums and trumpet) would play this, and on the middle part would play The Walk by Jimmy McCracklin, then go back and finish Hideaway. Great times

It's held up pretty well. I was 17 when this came out.

The Robert Jr. Lockwood Band played this real well in the 70's when i saw them at the Flipside Bar on Mayfield Road in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Cover charge was $1.00, pitcher of beer was $ 2.75, quite a bargain!

Learned this in 1988. Still jamming out to it in 2022

I like Freddie King's song “Hide away” because they are not singing but it is just the rhythm of the guitars and the drummer and the trumpets.

Never heard Freddy King before! Seems he knew one or two things about guitar playing! 😁
Do you have something from Nina Simone?

Sundazed, uh? Never had one, but i have two records from WaxTime, and let me tell you, WaxTime reissues sound exactly like the CD versions of the same albums.
It's a pitty because they have some interesting jazz titles on their catalogue.

Those catchy phrases on older records like "This Is A High Fidelity Recording", or "True Living Stereo", always make me smile, because they are like a sign of the times. Today, those phrases could never be used as a selling argument, they are just too simple and naive for the age we live in.

In my opinion, he was greater than B.B. King or Albert King, great as they were.
