At 2:19, that way of proving is incorrect as f(b)-f(a) / b-a = f(c1) and similarly it will be g(c2). We don't have any means to say that c1 and c2 are equal.

SIR, WE CAN'T PROOV THE CAUSHY MVT BY USING MVT ON F(X) AND G(X) BECAUSE IF WE APPLY MVT ON F(X) WE GET C=C1
AND APPLY MVT ON G(X) WE GET C=C2 AND IN GENERAL C1 NOT = C2

That condition should

Not be : f(x) & g(x) are polynomial function.
Be : f(x) & g(x) are given continuous & differentiable in [a, b] & (a, b) respectively.
