I bought the hybrid version of the fusion in 2011 and I've been happy with it ever since. Its made me a true ford customer

Thanks for the update. It's great to get this kind of feedback from owners who get to spend a lot more time with the cars than we do. Thank you!

If you're interested in the Fusion, it's probably worth waiting for the new one. It's a significant improvement, and should be in dealerships this fall. Search for 2013 Ford Fusion and you can learn more. If you like the current model, make sure you get a good deal. The Focus is also a really sharp car if you're ok with something a little smaller.

@takeoutme We can assure you they're independent reviews, but the videos are still a fairly new thing for us (we've done about 45 since December) -- and we're still figuring out the right format. This was one of our earliest videos. We definitely appreciate the honest feedback -- we aim to make constant improvements. Thanks!

Thanks -- glad you like them! The Optima is a pretty big car for the base 4-cylinder; you probably have to opt for the turbo for it to feel sporty.

finally reply is working! and thanks for all the time you guys are spending on responses, i really appreciate it! the optima is by no means a bad car. the optima just seems a bit to confined for my taste and also didnt have near as much power as i thought it would for a midsize sedan. The ride was very good also, but i took it for about an hour and i was only getting 26-29mpg w/ cruise on at 60mph. and trust me, i watch all the vids when they come out and 100x over. love autotrader & the videos!

Everything is relative. We compare cars against similar models. We think the Fusion feels a little sportier than most other midsize family sedans, particularly in "Sport" trim -- which gets a more powerful engine, firmer suspension and more responsive steering. Keep in mind that we were looking at the 2011 model when we shot this -- before newer competitors like the redesigned Kia Optima Turbo and Toyota Camry SE came out.

This looks like a nice car but can I get gun ports and bullet resistant windows as an optional feature?

I just purchased a 2011 Ford Focus SE, 2.5L I4. I traded in a high powered muscle car. I can say very few bad things about the car. The car looks great and rides like a dream. VERY smoothe ride...VERY! I was a little disappointed with the power. Obviously I understood I was heavily downgrading the power, but 175hp was disappointing. While the hp wont thrill you, it does get out of it's own way so it's not awful. Power aside, this is probably one of the best cars I have driven in some time!

To Autotrader- thanks for the help! i am going to drive a kia optima today and i think i am going to stick with the fusion unless the optima really wows me. I appreciate you taking your time to respond to me. sorry about the "reply" it isnt letting me use this feature on youtube... still. The focus is my choice for mpg but for a v6 the 28mpg fusion isnt bad. when test driving for about an hour on the freeway at 67mph on cruise i was getting 30.8mpg...not too bad in my opinion!

2011 and 2012s Ford did cost cutting on compared to the 2010s. 2010 was better had the more reliable powertrain depending on early model manufacture dates ( same transmission that the 2005- 09s had coded Aisin T-80) NOT the garbage GM/ Ford joint ventured built 6F35 six speed that the majority of them had later on in this first generation Fusion. And the 2010 Sport model 3.5 24V DOHC had the 6 disk Sony sound system older dash setup (easier to use) and unique thicker leather bolstered seats with blue or red inserts with the rear seat having flush headrests (unlike the 11-12s thinly padded leather with tall rear headrests), 10s had bright silver chrome accents and true chrome dual exhaust tips as well. This car in the review is your mid to average mid level SEL Vulcan 3.0 12V V6 with 17inch standard wheels with tech package.

would anyone recommend the 2012 v6? just drove one and i really liked it. just wondering if i should get that or a focus.

definately i do agree. its just odd that the 200hp doesnt feel more powerful (in my opinion) than the 175hp fusion or 169hp malibu. then again i must take into account the weight, gearing and everything else. just seems like for my money, the midsize sedan of my choice is the fusion hands down. Then again i am a huge ford fan considering we have about 8 within 3 immediate family members including myself.
