Показать описание
SMART Recovery online meetings run weekly and are free to attend for anyone seeking assistance for addiction to drugs, alcohol, gambling, cigarettes and any other problematic behaviours, including eating disorders. The meetings run for 90mins and are guided by trained facilitators.
What is SMART Recovery?
SMART (Self Management And Recovery Training) is a free self-help, mutual-aid program that offers a place for people to in the community to get together and change problematic or addictive behaviours using evidence-based tools and techniques.
There are almost 300 free SMART Recovery meetings taking place every week across Australia, each guided by a trained SMART Recovery facilitator. The SMART Recovery program is currently embedded in over 100 Government and Non Government organisations across Australia.
During SMART meetings the emphasis is on people’s thinking and behaviour, rather than the substance or addiction, as well as finding practical solutions that are focused on the ‘here and now’.
SMART Recovery is underpinned by only evidence-based techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing, and to ensure the program adapts with scientific advances, a Research and Advisory Committee of leading Australian addiction and mental health experts was formed.
The program was established in the US in 1994, has been operating in Australia for the past ten years. There are now more than 3000 weekly meetings in 20 different countries.
