The absolute disrespect volbeat received was absolutely unwarranted.

"It's a nasty plot clone that's manaphy's signature move"
What did volbeat do to you for you to disrespect him like that?

Belly drum was there passing a +6 boost.

How will this affect Finchenator’s legacy?

I know kingambit technically only boosts by 2 stages with swords dance, but it does feel like gambit plays like an extreme boosting mon sometimes. Thinking about it, with supreme overlord and 5 mons down, a kingambit on switchin has 1.5x its original damage, or the equivalent of a +1 boost. A swords dance would then boost gambit up to 3x its original damage, or the equivalent of a +4 boost to its attack. So in effect swords dance has acted like a +3 boost to kingambit's attack.

"someone got swept by Polteageist in gen 8. It really just spilled the tea like nothing else." when it comes to tea puns, BKC is unmatchable.

Tail Glow is Volbeat's signature move, not Manaphy's.

I freaked out when BKC played the replay 2 seconds in instead of 20 minutes

kinda expected the stupidness of power herb geomancy to also be mentioned but I guess it is technically banned anyway, as long as you're not playing vgc

I know a lot of people have said it but not only was Tail Glow the signature move of Volbeat originally, but it was +2 SpAtk because in gen 3 Nasty Plot didn't exist

Imagine being called shellgon, and not learning shell smash. Salamence gang rise up!!!

I think the problem with your logic is that you're conflating stat boost quantity with outcome. Volc isn't doing that much with the spedef boost, like sure it helps vs special attackers but most revenge killers are gonna be physical anyway and volc already has good spedef. Volc is usually just a super strong mon with special DD, the third stat isnt that relevant.

Shell smash is honestly the only one of the three that means anything. Tail glow's distribution is miniscule and all it's gonna let you do is wallbreak because nothing super fast gets it.

This is one of the primary gameplay reasons why I ended up gravitating towards oldgens all those years back; and I always found it weird that nobody seemed to have much of an issue with setup mechanics gameplay-wise. To me it's such a thoroughly unfun experience when so much of the game revolves entirely around that single setup turn, it reduces in-battle dynamics and complexity by a lot because so many options are entirely off-limits (think of the classic "i can never kill anything with this mon because it gives free setup" situations).

Of course they're interesting in their own way, but I personally much prefer games where you can only ever get so much mileage out of one good play, and wins are achieved through accruing small edges over and over rather than making everything revolve around the one big break.
