Brand new song!

I wrote this one last night and recorded the demo today. Let me know what you think.

Update: I got this question a couple times: it's me doing the guitar solo in this version... Toni Lindgren did the solo on the album.

you had the postal service
you had the telephone wire
there were passenger pigeons
to take your words up higher

there were walkie talkies
fiber optic repeat
there were infinite channels
between you and me

it don't matter pretty baby
that it was a note upon your door
it don't matter how you said it
you don't love me no more
you don't love me no more
you don't love me no more

now i could hijack the airwaves
to say i want you back
i could put us in a novel
and rewrite the past

i could string up the words
behind a long aeroplane
and wait for your answer
to come back again

but it don't matter pretty baby
if i find the words i'm looking for
it don't matter how i say it
you don't love me no more

i could hire a man
to swim across the sea
plant a little kiss
on your cheek for me

i could write you a letter
and cross all my tees
and send it in the belly of a great submarine

but it don't matter pretty baby
if my words never reach the shore
it don't matter how i say it
you don't love me no more

i could put a lonely billboard
on every city road
or have the stars blotted out
in a brilliant Morse code

wouldn't make no difference pretty baby
you don't love me no more
it don't matter pretty baby
you don't love me no more
you don't love me no more
you don't love me no more

Love this song so much and can't remember hearing this demo version before, but YouTube just recommended it to me...and this is a sign the strength of this song, even as demo it just sounds so fantastic. And I appreciate even after releasing more polished versions and the album/etc this demo version remains available, as a high quality demo just adds some different to the listening experience ...

I love the way you sing "I could string up the words"

This demo version is so good. Maybe it's just this song. I can't get enough of it. I might have to learn how to play it. I'm right in the middle of doing another song, but this is the one that I keep humming to myself throughout the day, haha. It's such a masterpiece!

I'm following you since "Come back over" and your cd is the only one I actually bought in the last 10 years. Please keep on creating this beautiful music.

Definitely one of your most "visual" songs -- again, for lyrics, you leave mere "cleverness" back in the dust.
There's a bundle of thought and creativity that goes into your verses, and by the end their imagery gently massage an inescapable atmosphere--the rare blend of intellect and feeling that's satisfying to the whole person. That's another way of saying your lyrics' parts come together amazingly to form a whole, even when melody is unobtrusive and repetitive.

I really think the strongest point of your music is the composition. You just have an ear for it. Really enjoyable song.

Every single song you write and produce is absolutely gorgeous and stunning! I can listen to your voice for hours and hours and I can't ever explain the extreme feel of happiness I get whenever I hear your sweet chords and singing. :)
Thank you so much for being such a talented writer, willing to share your love!

Probably one of the best songs ever written.
And the tragedy is, that I get the impression that Reina didn't write it for anyone specific, which is just an assumption by me though - I don't know anything about Reina's life.
I just get the impression she wasn't inspired by her own love-life and merely wrote it because she's a goddamn, high-functioning song-writing genius whg just churns out all time classic great songs because that's just what she likes to do.

I love so much watching your face work out the emotion of a song that I often forget how special your voice is too. Once I realized it was just a static image it was nice to just close my eyes and commit to using my ears.

Do you think you'll ever come out to the left coast on tour some time?

I'm stuck listening to this masterpiece. Your voice and your guitars voice is so expressive. It's so natural. There's no need to force it like I usually do. You are gifted beyond measure!

"I wrote this one last night and recorded the demo today. Let me know what you think." Wow, that's what I think. One of my favorite songs....so wistful, sweet, and complete.... Reina Del Cid, the Mike Patey of song writing...(big compliment)!

Lovin' your somber side... your intimate whispers... easy to wallow in the plaintive ambiance... interesting title for one of your most decipherable songs... ☮&♥ ...

Sweet! All the nuances in your voice make this song shine Reina. You pitched a ball right into your own wheelhouse and hit a homer.
