New leaks have revealed when Apple's October event will take place, featuring the release of Apple Silicon Macs.

So we discuss that date, and which Macs to expect as well.

There are also some brand new leaks concerning some code that is gonna give us a HIGHLY sought-after feature finally on the Mac.

We then use trends in Apple's previous SoC chips combined with a new leak of the A14 chip to figure out the performance specs of the A14X chip for the iPad Pro, which will help us figure out the performance of Apple Silicon Mac family chips.

And finally, we take a look at how developers are already running iPhone and iPad apps on the Apple Silicon Developer Transition Kit which features the A12Z Bionic chip.

Reminder, this is running on IPad pro hardware botched into a mac mini.

The new apple silicon won't just be a copy of the A12, but specifically designed for macs. It will be far, far more powerful than these benchmarks are showing. I'm hoping apple will actually kick intel's ass, and drop the price of the mac and create a "mac se" for less wealthy people. They haven't competed in the budget computer market for years, but if they do, they will be having my buy this holiday.

I'll disagree with you on one point. You mention everyone doubting this switch. I see and think the exact opposite. Based on the facts that Apple did the PPC to Intel transition faster than normal and that Apple doesn't do things first, but when they feel like it's right, I expect this switch to exceed everyones expectations, considerably.

The benchmarks are just a part of this. The bigger deal are Mac chips designed specifically for Apple programming languages and compilers, with the ability to hardware accelerate MacOS-specific functions. Hardware enabling any software function provides huge performance benefits. Macs are going to be sooo much better.
