Wow the new McDonalds in the station makes me sad, it used to be way prettier, now it's just tables with chairs.

I don't know if you have realized, because they don't really tell you, but you are eligible for a free hot drink at the bistro section with your 1+ class ticket.

These IC+ coaches might be known for some from the AdamSomething videos, where he rants about the government of our little country. (He is right btw, it’s a joke what our transport minister does)

There are control cars usually used on the Pécs line but due to the V43 locomotives being so faulty they don't really like to use them (driver has to walk all the way back in case of failure on the locomotive)

3:45 The legendary V43. These locos has a faclift also. Series= 431-"szili" (classic), 432-"swallow", 433- "tabby".

The control coaches usually operate on the line 40, 40a with the intercity Mecsek with the 433 series, its fun and good but ever since we began renting the 490 Series Akiem Astride, we haven't seen them in action ever since they began testing. Its mostly due to the 433 series being bad, 1 motor and a bit unreliable, possibly having issues with the control coach communicating with the engine.

Hungarian railway is a mess right now. It's probably never been this bad as it is now. Quite a shame to be honest.😢

6:05 some V43 locos cant really reach 120 anymore sadly, altho there are some that can even withstand 135, last time from Szeged we departed 10 minutes late because a brake failure on one of the cars, by the time we reached Cegléd we were 2 minutes early, at some point according to gps we were doing 130-135. 6:15 wifi is horrid because the train has insulation that completely blocks any kind of service going in or out, on older carriages its a 100x times better.

I once took the first class from Siofok to Szekesfehervar because the train conductors just sold it to me, on the ride back I bought the cheaper "regional train ticket" and honestly as a big fan of "n-Wagen" carriages from the former DB I really enjoyed it. However the markup was only a few euros, so compare that to Germany for example...

although, those Mannheim trams consist of two individual units that are coupled together. While they cannot run individually (they have a passageway to the other car), they are technically separate vehicles.

However, Berlin is poised to take the record soon, they plan to buy individual 60-metres-trams soon. Budapest probably won't follow suite, since by law trams are restricted to a maximum length of 50 metres (exceptions exist for Rts. 1, 4 and 6)...

Nice video! Tried these trains when they were kinda new, and the 1st class tickets give you access to the MÁV lounge, which is really great! But not sure if it's available at Nyugati?

And I'm very surprised they've renovated that Mcdonalds and added self service kiosks, last times I've been there it has always been an long long que with staff walking around with tablets taking orders from people 😄

Hello Simon!
You say about the Control Cars, that have many version in Hungary, but hier aren't compatible all cars and engines, than to west from the "Iron Curtain". The "Iron Curtain" was existed until 1990, in border line Austria between Hungary.
Good idea/example from Austria: The Inlandswagen Control car Using wth the diesel locomotive call Hercules and serial number is 2016 and using with taurus austrian serial number is 1116. Good idea/example from Germany: All control car using with the diesel locomotive serial number is 218 and all electric locomotive, which can be controlled.
Meanwhile in Hungary: The Control car with has steam locomotive, serial number are 424 (There is no such car anymore). Control car have with Diesel locomotive serial number are 418/M41 - Control car track number team is BDt-1xx (Using in line this cars: 142 Budapest - Lajosmizse). And the bigger snack are the eletric locomotive control cars. Locomotive track number are 431/V43 - 1xxx's control cars track number team are BDt-3xx (There are still a few pieces in train Yards, there aren't using this control cars). Next version the Nickname are Postal/Swallow Pendulum trains for which the control cars track number team are BDt-4xx (406 -> 455) and their locomotive are 432/V43-2xxx. This trains live in Szolnok, but you meet with they many parts of Hungary. Example: route line is 140 - 155 Kecskemét - Kiskunfélegyháza - Külsőhalas/Kiskunhalas. This control cars first version (BDt-400 -> 405) are remodelling to the remotorised 418-3xx/M41-23xx type diesel engines and all six pieces live in Debrecen. They working in route lines 108 - 110 Füzesabony - Debrecen - Mátészalka, several times in line 110 Debrecen - Mátészalka.
In year 2003 we bought 300 piece Halberstadter car from Germany, from that pieces of 27 are control car. We make to thats engines, it's call 433/V43-3xxx. This cars can using with the Bombardier TRAXX engines, hungarian serial number is 480. The last type is came from Austria, we bought 50 pieces Inlandswagen (nickname is Lange Schlieren) and 6 pieces Control car from this type. If they wouldn't be gutted in terms of control panel and they would be usable, than controling with the Siemens Taurus (hungarian serial number is 470) or Vectron (hungarian serial number is 471).
This trains, what did you travel with, that cars aren't working with control cars. That car type (it's call IC+), in which you traveled maybe planned to the control car with it's, but not built it anytime yet.
Delay in hungarian railways are being all time, the tracks aren't wery well. As well as veichles, more and more are falling out of line. From the "EU comfortable" timetable (valid from 15.06.2001 to 10.12.2002), what made that party who is goverment in Hungary yet (then (1998 - 2002) and recently (2010 - 2022) traffic minister name is János /John/ Fónagy) are made worst timetables in every years and closed three times (in years 2007, 2009, 2023) ~40 pieces extension line and still expected. There are lines where there are only two pairs of trains per day, we call that the national two-pair daily alibi schedule. Because the ruling party added the word "nation" to everything. This schedules live from 07.03.2012. Example line: 142(b) Lajosmizse - Kecskemét.

The seats in 1+ class are similar to those in Swiss Golden Pass Express and in the new high-speed trains of Turkey
