I feel like what the story shown by the video is about, is how a group of friends live together in a sort of spiritual world of their own and one of them decides it's time to rejoin the normal plane of existence that they have been away from for a long time. They decide to conduct their rituals so that she can carry a small piece of all of them with her and so that her trip will be a safe one. One thing I don't understand, however is why they are all bruised and cut.

I think it's a beautiful song, and a beautiful video about a group of friends inventing a ritual to bond before they have to say goodbye.

So sad and beautiful.  Its really what happens to all of us in this cosmos.  We make lasting friends, sometimes experience love, ..and get bruised a lot. Then we die and must make the painful decision to go back to our home or come back for our friends who may have decided to go another round on this alien world.  Lovely.  I wish everyone can leave this planet and go back though.

You're right Tash, but the spit "joining" was hard, until I thought about how you want to meld with friends you love/miss/gone...Bruises are representing life's harm and yes; the bullying aspect I get but hear the music, he gives the meaning. I can't get enough of his music; James, Rob and Ben are captivating.

don't you get it? he's an artist...his art is music which many people forgot in the last few years he's using his video to shock his audience and his music is far beyond "normal" mainstream music that's what makes his music so special too us

it looks like a pagan ritual to try and heal the girl. whatever it means its touching. beautiful and sad. i saw him play this summer, he is special.

@GreyEarlTea I believe the video is about relashionships, how people hurt each other even if they love each other and how they stain each other. You can tell she's hurt, then she goes to a place where other people are hurt. The girl swallowed their spit (they kissed). Then all those people stain her, take a piece of her clothes so they can get to her (she allowed herself to open up). She stains them. She gets carried away by her feelings and when she bleeds, she knows it's time to say goodbye.
