WERBUNG / ADVERTISEMENT (labeled as such due to German law)
One of the biggest selling points of LG's IPS 7 series monitors (IPS237 / IPS237L /IPS277 /IPS277L) is the incredibly thin bezel of 1.2mm.

Unfortunately this statement from LG is false. I bought the IPS237 monitor for 240€ from a German online retailer and the bezel turned out to be 11mm wide.

Make sure to watch this video before buying this monitor.

I am not disputing your statements, but i'm confused with time 3:33 & 3:50 at which point the bezel does appear very minimal, or was it an illusion until the monitor was powered? Just curious because the monitor lcd panel does seem to have that spec from your pics at these time-points, just wondering if this was more a manufacturing problem with the panel and usable area of the panel or driver/firmware issues if the panel did go as far as it appears at these time-points?

When somebody searches for a thin bezel monitor, it's because they want the black space to be as small as possible in between a multi monitor setup. Knowing this, LG designs this monitor. This monitor is a loophole in vocabulary and an outage. Not to mention misleading marketing borderline false advertising.

Yes the physical bezel is thin.

Does it achieve what niche buyers want? No.

Does it portray itself in a way that is misleading? Yes.

It is a parlor trick. Lg should be ashamed. If you know what the user wants, why not just make it? People will buy it!

"A monitor bezel, or screen bezel, is the area of a display that surrounds the screen. For example, if a monitor has a one inch bezel, the screen is surrounded by one inch of plastic or metal." That was taken from another side. I can see that the bezel is in fact only 1.x mm thick. So during your measurements please don't include the screen border.

Exactly.

This was the main reason why I bought this monitor. If the thin bezel does not exist, I do not need to spend that much money on it since other LG IPS monitors are almost 100 bucks cheaper.

If they would have just advertised a thin bezel this would have been a different story.

You are very welcome. If the bezel is not an issue for you the LG IPS 237 /277 definitely is a good choice or you could take a look at the 23xi from HP that I reviewed on my channel. This monitor also exists in a 27 inch version.

I just checked my IPS225V and it also says 5ms response time, that's also one reason I bought it. Not sure if there are slightly different versions that have 14ms response time.

I probably won't get another monitor in for review besides the 225V because I will be moving very soon.

well the bezel is the piece op plastic between the glass panel and the edge of the entire monitor. the "bezel" is 1.25 mm the viewing screen is not to the edge of the panel though.

The bezel is 1.2mm thick. The bezel is the casing around the screen itself.

You are right, if you are not planning a multi monitor set up the bezel is not that important.

Since LG actively advertised the thin bezel a lot of people were planning on such a multi monitor set up though.

LG should be sued for misleading people.

I did not check that but there was no need to because you were able to see a plastic bezel below the screen surface.

Furthermore LG confirmed the bigger bezel in a new press statement.

You are very welcome, exactly the same story with me. Glad you did not have to go through buying, returning and waiting for a refund.

Hopefully there will be monitors soon that really feature such a small bezel.

Hey, I honestly did not notice any issues like that. However I have to admit that I returned the monitor rather quickly and therefore did not test it for a long time.

To be fair, the bezel is generally understood to be the case housing the screen - not the edge of the image to the outside of the case.

The marketing picture clearly mis-sells this screen, but I think they would argue that the small bezel can't be represented without doing this.

Thank you for the video, it helped me understand what I was getting before I ordered.
