Dominoes - Sixty Minute Man - The First Rock and Roll Record?!?!

I DO NOT consider "Rocket 88" by Jackie Brenston to be Rock and Roll because the drums were played on the 1 and 3, which was a boogie technique. This record has the snare on the 2 and 4, which was the style used on Rock and Roll records moving forward.

To those they didn't realize old songs were just as dirty as modern music, they were just a little more subtle about it....

“15 minutes of blowing my top.” Man is an absolute legend and these lyrics hit hard lmao.

This is great. I literally cannot believe this made the airwaves considering how suggestive it was for the 50s. Love it.

its funny how explicit this song is without being overly in your face about it

15 minutes of kissing, 15 minutes teasin, 15 minutes pleasing and 15 minutes blowing my top - Classic love patter. Prince hadn't even been born yet.

Old people: "Songs today are so dirty, not like that when I was a kid"

Songs when they were kids:

I absolutely love this tune. The voice, the cadence, lyrics and tongue in cheek humorous blend make me feel elated after each hearing.
I first heard this song Way back in the day and my admiration for it has never faltered.

"Sixty Minute Man" by the Dominoes did happen to be the first rock and roll record. It was issued on the Federal label from way back in 1951.

Whenever this song plays I always have a mental image of the Sole Survivor casually walking around in X-01 Power Armor demolishing Raiders with his fists.

My father enjoyed this song in his last months of life. He used to sing it with his group as a teenager.

If I was a "60 minute man", I would sing about it too! :)

This song was from around 1951, and Clyde MacPhatter was one of the member of Billy Ward & the Dominoes, but you could hear Clyde's voice in the background. He left the group in around 1953 to formed the Drifters and "Money Honey" was the song that started it all, and that was from 1954 where Clyde MacPhatter was one of original member of the Drifters.

This is so hilarious. I'm so used to hearing this type of voice singing christmas songs and old boring love songs. "Fifteen minutes of blowing my top." HAHAAHA.
