Good video Dave. You did a good job explaining the magnet gap issue, that is a common problem. The gap gets even narrower on metal doors, windows, etc. About three years ago I sold my residential alarm business. I could see the writing on the wall with all of the DIY alarm products coming out and knew my small company wouldn't be able to withstand that. This technology has really made it easy for anyone to protect their property. Thanks again for doing the video.

Dave thank you for such a nice clean description. as you mentioned there are many options. I will check out your channel for more. not everything has to be the best but has to work for what it was designed . the YoLiink does sound interesting. So my issue is that I have been looking for a way to provide mom with an emergency cord in the bath room and by the bed etc. and the systems seem very expensive when resureshing or they are wired. which is nuts in this day and age. Humble opinion. I am seriously thinking of hot glueing a small washer for the magnite to stick onto and tie a string to the screw hole. pull it and the alarm goes off. These sensers are so universal and so simple. Any way what do you think. ? again great video.

It's nice video. But for the door sensor use the WiFi is not good option. One the range will not be good, the second reason, the battery life would be only last for around 1 year for WiFi sensors. I bought 8 LoRa wireless door sensors installed in my house, the brand name is YoLink which you can find from Amazon. It's easy to use and covered all my 4000 sf house, the YoLink door sensor's battery life last for more than 5 years.

Great little item and for the price definitely worth a try. Thanks Dave!

The WiFi definitely is not good choice for Door sensor, Leak sensor and other battery powered sensors. The zigbee, ZWave is better. The new LoRa wireless technology will be best solution for the smart home sensors.
