When she declined him, he dragged her by the hair and she said out of pain 'you are invincible my son' and only then did he let go of her hair...which is kind of extreme if you think about it...

Alexander was told as a child by his mother that he was a son of Zeus. Later his mentor told him to go aconquering and that the God's were on his side. Then the oracle of Delhi told him he was invisible (essentially invincible in battle).

If I remember correctly, the oracle had to fast (or some other preparation) to do this safely. There was some drug that was burned or gas in that area that gave her the hallucinations of the prophecy. It was extremely dangerous for her to do it on her day off when she wasn’t prepared.

Refering to Alexanders boldness, i like the legend of the Gordian Knot. Alexander came to Phrygia to challenge this legend. IT was said whoever unties this knot will rule the world. Alexander cut the knot with his sword and went on his way.
