Me and my partner Carter go headed to the 200 acre wood and I had bucked up this big red oak. This is the footage of me hand splitting that same wood that same day and then we stacked it so that it could season for this coming winter. If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe. Thanks for watching, be safe and God bless!

Back when I was a teenager I was splitting with my dad. I was trying to split everything with 1 hit and tiring myself out quick. He sort of laughed and said your swinging too hard, which I thought was strange at the time. I thought less swings made it easier. He said swing at an easier pace that you can maintain for a long time. On some rounds the first 3 swings he wouldn't be trying to split the wood, it was just to develop a crack in it, then on the 4th or 5th swing split it apart. Works especially well in tough stringy wood. I was standing there catching my breath and he would just motor along and out split me every time. Sometimes 5 easier swings is much more efficient than 2 at 100%. Accuracy over power. Just one of the many great pieces of advice he has passed down over the years. He is 80 and still hand splits around 10 full cord a year. I notice you do this as well, swing to not split, just thought it would be good to mention. Thanks for taking the time to edit with the voice over, enjoy that type of post much more.

If I may Dillon……I suggest you and Carter stack your wood piles off the ground for air to circulate and help speed up the drying process…which you know with Oak is a very long time. 2 poles placed about 10 inches apart will keep the bottom row from getting wet and transferring the moisture to the row above. I generally. When in the woods will just find a couple old downed saplings 3-5” around an lay out horizontally the stack my firewood across the saplings….it also helps to keep the stack from falling over, when you get the heave and drop from heavy frost or frozen ground. Nice video !!! Keep swinging 🪵🪓✔️👍👏🇺🇸 Rick

I’m pretty sure Fiskars makes a 6lb maul which I’ve never seen. I have the 8lb maul and I personally ain’t all about it cause it has too sharp of an edge to be a maul, whereas that Truper you’ve seen me use, has a blunt sharp edge which is what I love cause it won’t stick in the wood unless it’s water logged or something! Green Red Oak was what I was splitting in my video that you saw and I agree, it was pretty stringy stuff, especially since they were for some reason covered in sprout clusters which made the knots on the side of the logs! 👍🏻

I am a positive person, so I know how you are.. I am in a sales & Technical Position when someone needs helps with there Mazda I am one of the few that you call for help or whatnot..
Early this year, I had a lady from France that was angry because her parts order was returned to me. So after she got negative with a phone call, I returned it with a positive attitude and to put it bluntly that shut her up as he didn't know what to say next..

Sure is a lot of work to split that oak

Turned out to be a bit harder to split than I thought. It might have split easier if it sat in the sun for a couple weeks to allow the natural cracks to appear. You never know until you smack a couple rounds just how it will split. Looks like Carter is earning his keep. Another good video. Keep ‘em coming.
