DIY Wireless Phone Charging Station - Walnut with Epoxy Design

This video will show you how to make an easy DIY wireless phone charging station! QI charging has become popular, but one of its biggest downfalls is that all chargers look nearly identical. Customize your wireless charger and create a DIY wireless charging station, to set yours apart from the rest! Hidden under beautiful walnut and layered with an epoxy design, this charger looks more like a decorative piece than a charger.

The project was completed with basic materials, such as a 6" long walnut board, epoxy resin, and very basic woodworking tools!(circular saw and wood router)

All of the materials will be listed below, and if you took a different approach to creating your own wireless charging pad, please let me know what you did different in the comments section!

You earned a sub my friend. I’m not a woodworker but want to get into the craft as I have lots of little niche areas around my flat that I can place storage but it would have to be bespoke

Instead of a lightning bolt could I do a circle dip so a pop socket would fit??

This is probably already in the comments somewhere, but you could and perhaps should use a Stanley knife/blade to score along the outside edge of the design. This separates the fibers of the wood and allows for a much cleaner routed edge. Also, the dead centre of the board can be found by just drawing two intersecting lines from corner to corner. They will meet in the dead centre. I would also consider securing the block while routing (Clamp or double sided tape perhaps?). You will have much better control over the tool when you only need to concentrate on the router and where it is cutting. Overall, great job.

Nice one! Easy home-made gift ideas. Thanks also for reading out the text messages from your friend....letter for letter. Thorough! 😀

Look after your hands buddy.! Fix that timber down before routing it only takes one whoopsie 👍 also you can use a marking knife to lay out your lighting bolt then finish it off with a chisel after router🤘

How thick should be the wood? For charging?

Can we have a deal about the mobile charger?

Dude don’t hold the piece with your hand while routing, use clamps! Also why no eye protection?

Craftsmanship 1 out of 10 points. Its so easy to do this much better.

Not a comment on the craftsmanship itself, but wireless charging is probably one of the most pointless and useless technologies introduced. You plug in the charger and then put your phone on it instead of just plugging in your phone. A whole .75 seconds saved.
