Make A Router Jig

I built this super easy and very efficient router jig using just MDF and acrylic.  I built this jig specifically to cut designs into some Chevron pattern barn doors.  This jig would also be great for cutting in slots and rabbits for joints.

I had to cut some ¾ inch plywood with a router not that long ago.. this jig would have worked EXCELLENTLY.

I will build this as it can be very useful for those times when I don't have access to my table saw for needed cuts.

Thank You for sharing this.

For a trough jig it does not matter if the router base is round or square.
A layer or two of scotch tape stuck to the sides of your base to be shims when setting the rails of the jig. Remove the tape after and you have a consistent width just big enough.

This looks great, but I first I need to build a table saw 😳

Tomorrow we're supposed to start learning how to use a router to cut a slot for a truss rod in a guitar neck. I just found a big ol sheet of acrylic and now I can make it easy for everyone.

I knocked up a smaller version of this in about 30 min. My first real jig, actually. Based on a few slots I've cut with it already, I won't cut slots and dados with a router any other way, now. That's for the instructions.

Great jig! I'll be building one this weekend, for a dado that I need to cut for a vinyl record cabinet that I'm building. Thanks for sharing.

What makes this better than just using a straight piece of wood and a flush trim bit (with the bearing on "top" so you can "copy" the straight piece of wood)?

Buenas tardes. Soy daniel de Argentina. Te consulto. El acrilico lo cortas con la misma hoja de sierra que cortas las maderas??
