Talk about Singapore and their crime rate will almost always be mentioned. Unlike other countries, including those nearby, the crime rate in Singapore is so low that the country is considered one of the safest in the world.

In fact, it is so safe that if people leave their stuff in the middle of a busy shop or restaurant, they will likely still find it exactly where they left it!

In Singapore, citizens do not live in fear of strict laws and punishment cause they do not break the laws themselves. Instead, they support those strict laws. If I have to choose between free but dangerous and strict but safe, I will choose the latter.

I am born here and live here more than 50 years, and never once I was afraid of the strict laws. On the contrary, I always think they protect me from those who want to break the law. Caning may be barbaric to some but personally we have warned those would-be offenders that IF THEY CHOOSE TO BREAK THE LAW, THEY WILL BE CANED (hardcore crimes like rape, molest etc). So they are warned. And they can make a choice not to break the law but if they did, we have no compassion or feel sorry for them.

One time I was at plaza Singapura and dropped my wallet in a lift 5 mins later 2 ladies came up to me and gave it to me... they were looking for me for 5 mins to give my

OK Some of the things mentioned are gross exaggeration
1)CCTVs are NOT everywhere. They are mostly only installed in town area and the red light district. U only see CCTVs in elevators in residential zones
2)U don't get jailed for jaywalking. U only get fined for importing large amounts of gum. 1 or 2 sticks for personal consumption is OK, at worse they will just tell U to throw it away. It is not a crime to prossess gum, it is to import/sell it. And only drug trafficking results in a death sentence. We rehabilitate drug users not kill them. LMAO.
3)We take it upon ourselves to report crime because we want to keep the country safe but go after criminal?? Pretty sure that is not the norm
For many foreigners, some of the punishment may sound too harsh. For most Singaporeans, we have no problems with it because things U get punished for, U're not supposed to do them in the first place. Fined for littering? Why are U even littering, there are garbage bins everywhere. Stopping U from Jaywalking is for your own safety. U can still Jaywalk as long as U are at a reasonably long distance from nearest pedestrian crossing.

An educated, disciplined, talented and peaceful people don’t do crime . Visited there once, couldn’t believe how clean and beautiful Singapore was and the diversity in culture and race living in harmony is an example to all .

Lived and worked there for 6 months and returned 4 times in twenty years enjoyed it all.
Their judicial system is swift with punishment certainly not delayed with endless appeals. While I was there a male broke into a home to steal jewellery, hit a maid who later died. Tried, convicted, appeal heard and executed in 4 weeks.

Singapore is, without doubt, the Best, Safest the Cleanest and most beautiful city state in the world. Having lived in many countries and working in jobs overseas, ONLY Singapore I found absolute honesty, efficient and excellent Police force, Clean Streets and all civil facilities, where a single woman may walk in absolute safety.
Nowhere can compete. The envy of so many countries such as Australia (where murder is a daily occurence in major cities, America where crime starts once the airport has been left behind and Britain, where, like Australia, crooks are treated as heroes by the so called justice system whilst victims are treated as though crime committed on them is their own fault. If only the so called 'developed nations would follow Singapore, the world would be a better place.

At least in Singapore, criminals are not treated namby pamby like here in America. Unlike American laws, they don't take any crap and justice is felt swiftly and harshly.

I'm a foreigner to Singapore and lived there for 3 years.
I swear, I have never felt any safer anywhere in the world except Singapore.
Not is it a safe place to live in,
It is literally one of the most socially active places I had been to.
Everyone almost has something to do with their leisure time. Either they are playing sports or doing anything fun.

Of course, no place is perfect.
Singapore's cost of living is indeed above the average,
However, if you look into the salary that you make if you work and live in Singapore, it somehow compensate on the high cost of living.
So it's still okay,

Once I saw a wallet on a table and I kept an eye on it. A westerner came and was looking around, I asked if that wallet was his. He was very happy and glad and said this only happened in Singapore. On another occasion, I come across a watch on a bench, I hold on to it until someone came to look for it and I passed it to him.

How many times must we, Singaporeans, be telling these ignorant foreigners that consumption of chewing gum is not a crime but the commercial import and distribution of chewing gum is a crime.

You shouldn't use pictures of public caning taking place in other countries in this video. People are not caned publicly in Singapore and caning is not commonplace here.

We are not "complacent" about our safety... Seriously some words you use just gives false impression. We are still aware of dangers even in odd hours. It is because our country is small and our police force has been efficient and effective in ensuring our safety 24/7 makes us citizens feel at better ease even in the oddest hour because we are able to trust them in their work. That doesn't make mean we are "complacent" beings. Being "complacent" about safety and being able to truly feel safe is NOT THE SAME.

In Australia criminals laugh at the law and the police, drugs and crime is everywhere, you got to be careful about reporting a crime because of retaliation from the criminal, the law here is a complete and utter joke, it protects the criminals and not the victims of the crime, and yet we criticise the countries policies where they virtually have no crime, work that one out

This vid, is only partially true... you don't leave valuables on the table and go away to expect it to be there... the island is small, and actually a lot of crimes stats are not reported. True, most singaporeans are law abiding, but the crimes here are unique to the culture here, why rob a person on the street when you can just rob your company with fake claims, most singaporeans are smarter than the average crook,

Quite true! I grew up in Singapore! When I was very young crimes rates are pretty high! I saw robberies, gang fights and drug abusing right before my eyes! We have come a long way and I am glad that all have gone positively.

I disagree about poverty!! Poverty is not a factor in crime. Australia gives money out to those that are jobless and they get addicted to drugs and they commit crimes even though they have weekly pension checks.
It is how they use their time. There is no accountability. Because employed people are busy working they have less time to commit crime!!!

The simple thing we all need to know is: " When you were born in one kind of culture, you would grow up naturally and happily accept and  behave the way you are supposed to . If you were born in the USA, you will behave differently ." But, in general the society is safe or not  depend on the respect of the people toward the laws and

You can also include Singaporean who have to serve National Service either in the Army.Police force or Civil Defence once they reach 18 years old . Im another words, they are uniformed personnel all over Singapore who will not hesitate to report or tackle crimminals. They will also not hesitate to pass their vehicle camera footage to the traffic police when they encounter traffic offences or rashness driving.
