Very good - very moving. Much better like this than as a concert aria - no matter how famous the singer. It doesn't make sense as a stand alone piece without the action and context. Love it!

This recording was played at my Mums funeral four months ago.
It was the most perfect, beautiful thing I have ever heard.
No one cared about pitch.
Just enjoy the beauty of it .

Yes pitchy often here, but this lyric soprano has both heart and years in her voice and always deliever the drama with her exciting voice, slightly veiled timbre and acting skills.

A great voice teacher once said "The sound of your voice will never make you a singer." Jaho's voice is OK, but the intensity and musicality of her Butterfly make for an overwhelming experience.

For all of you complaining about her pitch, I suggest you check out Patricia Racette's Un bel dí. I'll wait.

As for the voice, she's a lighter Butterfly, yes, but it still rises to the occasion.

Just heard this performance a few times this past week on the radio and an interview including her comments about opera, Puccini-sama and her role here. The performance is brilliant, and the recording here, obviously isn't something by which to judge. I prefer different interpretations and an artist's fearlessness to do so.

Beautiful voice! I think she's a tad lyric for Butterfly, but beautiful expression!

Acting-wise, I totally bought it. The pitch really wasn't that off, the pitch and the volume may be a problem due to the recording, I think it must sound pleasant at the house.
