Even though it's 2024, I bought a PS3 and let me tell you that it's AMAZING! In this video I'll unbox and review an original 40GB PS3 Console (also called fat.) Alongside the console we got 11 games and Gran Turismo 5 Signature Edition.

I still have my PS3 Slim from 2010 and God of War 3 was the #1 game i had to play! Love it! It's crazy that the PS3 & 360 are modern retro game systems! The PS3 games still look amazing to this day in 2023! 😀

Still play on my PS3 even to this day. I bought the 500GB Super Slim model when PS4 first launched and since then I haven't regreted that decision. PS3 is a great console for single player games and my PS3 collection is very massive. Especially on physical media.

I still use my ps3 despite having a ps4 and 5, I actually use my ps3 mode than any other console.
The servers for the cod games are still active and a lot of people still play it, and sony just gave us firmware 4.90

Dug my old PS3 out whilst my pc in the store being repaired, I can't believe how good these machines are when you consider how old they are.

As I've gotten older. I kinda look for more simplicity. I still wish Sony would update the ps5 to run ps3 games with improved resolution.

If you want to reduce the fan noise it generates as well as prevent it from dying a heat death before it has to, you might want to consider opening it up and replacing your thermal pastes on the heat syncs.

The 1 issue with the PS1 & 2 is the graphics, so that's the only reason why some people find it going back to. PS3 doesn't have that problem, I still maintain that resolution quality didn't need to exceed 1080p, obviously yeah if you can do it but 1080p was all we needed. In 10 years, this will be the GOAT console because of how well it held up plus the quality of games

I've just set up my old PS3. I haven't used it since I got my PS4 back in the day.
When I played it it was on a 22" TV with no HD in those days.
Now I have it hooked up to my big TV and my Pioneer Home Theatre system.
I'm truly amazed at the picture and sound quality. The sound seems to have more volume than the PS4.
You have so many more option for both sound and graphics than you do on the PS4.
I played the Blu-ray "Alien: Prometheus". I chose DTS and the bass was so great that The windows were rattling.
My only regret is that my PS3 does not have 'backwards compatibility'.

Bought a ps3 slim back in 2011. Still have it with my other ps3 slim and ps3 super slim. I loved the ps3 library of games. especially all the multi pack games like jak and dextar collction, killzone collection, sly cooper etc. Also just the main console exclusives. God of war, uncharted, the last of us.

My favourite PlayStation ever personally is the PS3, I had this same version and I hammered it for about 8 years, unfortunately It did die and my last couple of years with PS3 was with a slim model which was still fine of course before I eventually fully transferred to the PS4. The PS3 is still my favourite PlayStation to this day, even though I do finally have a PS5 now.

Had my ps3 slim 200gb for 6 years now. Never opened it and it still runs just fine. I played cod ghost extinction on it definitely good experience.

I just recently bought my first ever Playstation 3. Never owned PS3 but over the last few years
I bought only mint condition 2nd hand PS3 games from charity shops, I also have a
factory sealed Tomb Raider Anniversary 👍Now I have about 40 games to explore.
My PS3 plays PS1 and PS2 games, although my PS3 version is software emulated and not hardware inside.😒
Only played a few games so far (PS2 WRC games) but love it. I am amazed how great this machine is and
still stands out today, Sony, well done.

Awesome vid. I received a free gift of a 40GB PS3 a couple of months ago myself. Had firmware 1.27 which is crazy... Tried to play GTAV and found it kept crashing so upgraded to 120gb SSD to only find it was the disk all along. Works great now and I have collected a couple dozen games. One thing to note, my PS3 had such a low firmware, probably hasn't been used in many years and it doesn't spin up the fan when idle, actually is cold until you run a game up. Long live the PS3.
