Trudeau says Toronto's byelection mirrors choice for voters in next federal election

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the choice facing voters in a Toronto federal byelection will “mirror” the one they will face in the next federal election.

Toronto-St. Paul’s has long been considered a Liberal stronghold, but the vote scheduled for next Monday is shaping up to be more competitive, and as national-level polling suggests, voters across the country are eager for change.

Trudeau was asked Thursday whether he considers the byelection a test of his leadership.

It’s actually stupid for him to say this because this is a Toronto riding that’s mostly liberal. The majority of the country will vote conservative for the federal government. How hard is that for him to understand? Torontos voting decision in a by election is not the view of most Canadians. The only way this makes sense if Trudeau is planning on stepping down if the by-election goes to the conservatives.
