We have a couple oriental pied hornbill living in our neighbourhood and it gets attracted to bright red chilli on my balcony! Their call is like a laugh

Saw a pair of these the other day in Thailand. Not in the jungle exactly but in an area surrounding a small airstrip which is walled off and filled with trees. They are huge!

I love these banana beaks!! They’re so beautiful! Fun fact for the readers: When they mate the female bird nests in a hollowed out house in the tree that is then sealed off with clay and poo until she’s ready to leave the nest after the clutch has been hatched. The female is cared for by the male bird throughout nesting by being fed through a tiny little hole in her poo house. This results in the male bird working twice as hard as he has to forage enough for him, but for her as well! Mom stays with the chicks only for a short time before she then leaves the poo house. Mom and dad seal the hole up with more poo and clay and feed the babies through the hole in the poo house. So much poo…

“Eye lashes” keeps debris from reaching the delicate tissues of their eyes or maybe it just accentuates their eyes?

Currently in Palawan Philippines and heard this bird honking outside of a reataurant bar on the beach, but I couldn't find or see where it was. I finally asked one of the locals which bird it was that makes the cute honking/quaking sound, and he said it was the hornbill. I just hope that building resorts doesn't take away too much of their habitat !😢

It can be found at Sarawak, Malaysia.. This bird called 'Burung Kenyalang' scienctific name Buceros rhinoceros.. Its become as a symbol of the warrior among dayak and iban people in sarawak in Malaysia..
