Not saying Matco doesn't manufacture a quality box, but this video really casts a shadow over the Epic that's not fair. Any wide drawer with dual slides or a single slide drawer will wobble like that if it's wide enough. I notice the rep didn't try to shake the Matco drawer side to side nor stood in the SnapOn drawer either to offer a real time side-by-side comparison. He just shook the snappy drawers, then stood in the Matco...
But let's dig in a little further...

What's the total weight capacity of each box v.s. the sum of their drawer's capacities? Does the Matco boast more weight capacity across all it's drawers than what the frame of the box or casters are rated for? It's cheaper to install heavy weight slides on each drawer, and then skimp on the thickness gauge, frame reinforcement, and caster capacity. The Epic will hold up just fine, regardless of how the rep tries to manipulate any viewers with this video. I had a 75" Macsimizer with a dual slide 400lb capacity in one of the bottom drawers that my tool rep and I both stood in at the same time and it held up just fine afterward. Guess what... you could make it wobble side to side too if you tried hard enough... That demonstration doesn't offer much relevance at all for a structural test in tool storage or longevity of the box's work life.

Matco does make quality boxes from 4s and up. I just think it's a little deceiving and tacky for a rep to compare boxes without putting them both through the same tests. There's a reason he didn't shake the Matco drawers and didn't stand in the Epic. He purposefully showed a negative characteristic of one box and then demonstrated an unrelated good quality of another box. Nothing more, nothing less.

Rant Over.

Man why didn’t you shake the Matco box like that? Cause my 5s did the same exact thing! 😂😂 nice sales pitch. Hook.line.sinker

My 68” EPIQ doesn’t do that. Sometimes I use the draw as stairs to fix a clock.

Also I like to pull several full drawers out to show the new guys that the box won’t tip.

With all that said Matco makes a pretty good box. I went with snap on because I got a killer deal on a new one. If I’m not mistaken Snap on boxes are USA made with US steel from Pittsburgh PA. I believe the only thing Matco actually makes are boxes.

Lastly if I was starting out today id probably buy a harbor freight box or wait for a killer deal on a Snap on or Matco. If you’re doing this job for life it’s not a bad idea to invest in something that will last that whole time.

I have a 2016 4325 and a 2015 jsc480 and absolutely love them. Prior to getting my 4s I have my cart overloaded far past it’s max load rating and it was still maneuvering fine, all drawers opened without issue and I honestly couldn’t have been happier with the build quality. The only gripe I have with the carts is the lack of warranty. Say what you want about snap on but they cover everything from the spot welds, casters, drawer slides for the life of the box. Matco Jamestown carts come with 1 year warranty which is absurd for the amount of money I spent on it.

Matco stuff is such quality, we've had 7 matco dealers in the last 10 years, and the same snap on guy since 02. The tools or the box are only as good as the dealer that services them. Having to ups in warranties is so much better than the weekly guy that comes in every week, at the same time and takes care of it for you.

Great trick to fool the ignorant. Take a 68” drawer, push on one side, pull on the other then tell people it wobbles. go stand in an 18” drawer and revel in how solid it is, really?

1) you could wobble a matco 68” drawer the same way, if they made one that big
2) you could stand in a 20” drawer on any snap on box, let alone an epiq box
3) there are fools born every minute, if you have to perform parlor tricks to sell your product, then not even you believes in the product your selling.
4) I have priced matco, their prices are very comparable to snap on and Mac, maybe even a little higher, for a smaller box.

But you can stand in a

I almost feel bad for the Matco rep at my shop. No one buys anything off of him. We all buy from Snap-on. Just ordered a new Epiq to replace my Master series box.

Both Matco and Snap on make expensive ass tool boxes. That snap on is drawer is pretty wide and I'd think any drawer that wide is going to move like that when you push one side and pull on the other. That Matco drawer looks like it's pretty narrow too.
