No, it's a season, not week to week. Matt is describing DFS, not season long formats. In a DFS game you are looking for the angle for the current match-up.
Season long is different. In season, you need to be patient. Here's some examples-
You have studs, but get off to a slow start, so you panic and sell cheap, letting go of all of the best guys, for guys who are HOT at the moment.
Season long players are looking at the playoff schedules, and trying to manage a top 3 finish in your division. So it's not even head to head, as much as it's this guy needs to lose and I need to win. Most of the time another team will eliminate the bottom two/three teams in each division, and you can just manage your squad and fall into your playoff position.
Your goal is to make the playoffs, not win every game, week to week. Sometimes, you might even throw a game in order to adjust a potential playoff match up. I have let a team win off me, so he could get the win total to push the better team out of the playoffs.
I've only scratched the surface on the potential strategies that could be employed over a complete season. Matt Berry is sloppy. I've been proving him wrong for over a decade.
