4mp vs 4K Security Camera (4mp vs 8mp)

Watch this video to see a comparison of surveillance recorded with a 4mp vs 4k security camera (4mp vs 8mp security camera). Both of the cameras used in this video are Viewtron network IP cameras. They were both connected to a Viewtron IP camera NVR.

This is the 8mp dome IP camera that was used in the video at the front door of the house. Please note that 8mp is the same as 4K resolution.

This is the 4mp bullet IP camera that was used in the video to monitor the walkway leading up to the front door.

Please note that the 4mp camera is a Viewtron AI security camera. It has artificial intelligence software built-in that supports object detection such as human detection, car / vehicle detection, and facial recognition. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge. I'm a retired police detective with a tech background. Own a company doing similar stuff, mostly commercial jobs. We did a lot of 8MP a while back. Eventually came to realize that 4MP tends to beat it with moving subjects, even in decent lighting conditions. The better light gathering capability allows you to run faster shutters speeds. Minimizing motion blur. Even with a fair amount of experience, it took us a while to realize that all that matters is quality on *moving* subjects. A clear, bright *static* image looks nice on the surface. But ends up being irrelevant.

Not to mention that 4K cameras will take up a lot of space. You will have to invest in a larger AVHD for your NVR as it fills up quickly.

If I am not mistaken, 4k is useful for the ability to digitally zoom to show details otherwise blurred on wide angle lower res cameras. No need for a 4k screen.

Note about needing 4k monitor.
4k video on 1080p monitor will still look sharper than 1080p video due to down sampling/chroma sampling

hi, thanks for the video i was looking for some references with these kind of cameras and how they look in 4mp and 4k... i have a question ... obviously for 8mp cameras we need a display screen capable of 4k (monitor or tv) to fully apreciate the 4k resolution... but with 4 mp? is it the same do we need a QHD or "2K" monitor for that kind of camera resolution? or is it a 1080p monitor enough for these cameras ?
