Pickup Denies Zipper Merge Attempt

We will call this guy the zipper merge nazi, "no merge for you!"

People with the mentality of "Oh I'm going to get to (destination) 2 milliseconds later if I let them in" are the same people who then purposely crash or spark road rage. It's a traffic jam! *Everybody* is stuck in it, so just be courteous so people can get to wherever easily.

I've had this happen before. One time with a big rig. I rode the shoulder until he eventually let me in.

The way I look at it is based on car position when the dividing line ends and the two lanes become one. If the merging lane car is not ahead at that point, then they merge in following the car in the continuing lane. I doubt there is much if anything in the CVC about this, really it misses describing a lot of situations.

Truck driver should get a 30 day license suspension and be required to take driving class.

If other drivers want me to be behind them, I usually oblige. Sometimes they change their minds when they find out that I’m an extreme tailgater, use my horn a lot and drive with my brights on.

People that do that really irritate me. I usually just let it go and get behind them. Speaking of which, some young guy did the same thing to me earlier today, sped up to prevent me from merging and I just got behind him....I did want to lay the horn but I'm positive that he would've road raged :/

They just want to remind you that you are not always entitled to merge where you want. In most states the thru lane drivers have no obligation to to the merging drivers.. Although the zipper is best. Entitlement can get out of hand.

Seems people up there on the North end don't know what a zipper merge is! It's people like that plus the ones who squeeze in out of turn that mess up the flow.

That driver was under no obligation to let you in, and you had an obligation to yield to him, so what exactly is the issue, here?
