Pro tip so that you never accidentally leave it on after afking, instead of a lever, make it tied to a pressure plate. As soon as you step off the pressure plate, the farm will turn off.

I have made this machine, although my model is half production since it only uses 2 kelps and composters instead of 4. It is consistent and mostly reliable, and when the kelp disappears it is easy to replace. DO BEWARE that if you accidentally leave it on and leave the area or log out, the sand will get broken and the sand's item drops could get lost in the machine. It can be fixed without too much pain, but try to avoid this by turning the machine off when you are not nearby.

I have also added some redstone wizardry to fill a secondary chest with bone blocks once the primary chest reaches a certain capacity. I keep a barrel with spare kelp at the top of the machine for easy repairs, since the issue with vanishing kelp is inevitable.

Built it recently on bedrock on my survival world. Works like a charm! Just a warning, don’t leave the machine on if you’ll be exploring out of chunk range. It’ll break the sand and kelp.

Just built this today, expanded to 8 kelp wide and ran the switch to turn it on down close to my on switches for an afk tree farm, and ran a hopper line from the output chest to my bonemeal input on the tree farm. Works like a charm! FYI I did make sure to chunk align the whole thing.

I for the life of me like many others could not figure out why my kelp would not grow so the farm would not work. I’m not sure why but light source seems to be affecting the kelp growth in this farm. When I destroyed all the light sources in front of the farm itself allowed it to work. So my advice to anyone who is having issues with kelp growth make sure light source is removed from the front of the farm by at least 5 blocks. Good luck with the build everyone and have fun.

Build in a chunk. If ur on ps5 or whatever console the way to check that is too have your cords in the top left. Both x and z need to be divisible of 16. If both are divisible at the same time you’ve found a corner so map out the corners and build it in that

I suck at red stone and have been playing Minecraft since 2011! I have never really bothered with it at all, even tutorials such as this one. Recently started a world in survival and have set out some new goals for myself. This is the second red stone farm I have built, first a sugar cane farm, and then realizing how much bonemeal that required so I decided I needed this farm. After following your easy to understand directions I got my machine to work on the SECOND activation. The first time I deleted a red stone repeater by accident getting rid of my scaffolding during building destroying the kelp. After replacing the repeater and activating the machine, BOOM it works!!! thank you so much! I have officially entered the Industrial Revolution!

Worked great for me! I hooked this up to a bamboo farm, autocrafting to planks, with a module to autocraft additional items from there—currently set up to make chests. Thanks JC, you’re a Bedrock God!
