another space misconception -- the moon being close to earth. In some films you often seem the moon too close to earth, or too big in the sky. You could in fact fit every planet in the solar system in the space between the earth and moon.

sidenote - the moon is the same size in the sky as the sun is, because the circumference is 400 x smaller than the sun's circumference, and the sun is 400 times further away
