VOCES8 sings Allie Wrubel and Herb Magidson's 'The Masquerade is Over' arranged by Blake Morgan. This music video was made whilst the group was on tour in La Jolla, California.

TEXT
Your eyes don't shine like they used to shine
And the thrill is gone when your lips meet mine
I'm afraid the masquerade is over
And so is love, and so is love

Your words don't mean what they used to mean
They were once inspired, now they're just routine
I'm afraid the masquerade is over
And so is love, and so is love

I guess I'll have to play Pagliacci
And get myself a clown's disguise
And learn to laugh like Pagliacci
With tears in my eyes

You look the same, you're a lot the same
But my heart says "no, no, you're not the same"
I'm afraid the masquerade is over
And so is love, and so is love

My introduction to this song was the barbershop arrangement sung by the quartet, Acoustix. This arrangement is epochs beyond Acoustix! I hear influence of the great chorales of the 1960s in there (e.g. Johnny Mann Singers, Norman Luboff Choir, and the Will Bronson Singers).

What a sad song. The arrangement is stunning. Katie's solo is moving. Beautifully sung song

Wow, thanks again, especially Katie, for the awesome solo lead and Blake for another masterpiece. As for the rest and all of you, in fact, there aren't enough superlatives.

3:52 that Gmaj7, F#min11, F13/#11 ending on a E6/9 chord with a rubbing #4 was so smooth

The harmonies almost makes it more interpretable as a goodbye to the world song. maybe a funeral song even. love it.

It never ceases to amaze me, the variety of their voices, yet they can blend them so well.

These guys are so versatile, they can go from church music to a song like this, amazing versatility, and Katie smokes it on this one, good job, Katie!

They just get better. This reminds me so much of Manhattan Transfer
