This work is from Mertz's Bardenklänge (Bardic Sounds), Op.13 collection. Mertz was very influenced by the great composers of his day, in particular, Liszt, Chopin, Mendelssohn, Schubert and Schumann firmly placing him as a prominent Romantic era composer for guitar.
