Sunak v Truss: Penny Mordaunt could have a 'major influence' on the final result

Tory peer Lord Hayward says Penny Mordaunt, who was knocked out of the Conservative Party leadership contest, could have a "major influence" on the final result.

He also told Sky's Kay Burley that even though Liz Truss currently leads in the polls, the fluctuation in the numbers suggests that people have "no firm favourite".

Does UK wants American citizen to run their country. Though hes given up that citizenship but the truth is it wasn't by choice for him. So I would never trust sunak/ snake.

I'm a Labour supporter / voter but out of all the candidates; their backgrounds, lifestyle, views, personal and professional accountability I would have wanted Penny Mordaunt as PM till the next GE. But alas we the public can't decide on anything till then. Truss is Eurosceptic pushover whom does what the ERG does, she's bad at interviews and publicly/live however she is more popular with the Conservatives which means less chaos inside and they would more than likely get Boris back in some form and win the next election because voters don't care. Whereas Sunak is more likely to collapse the Conservatives from the inside due to his policies and so called 'successes'. Sunak doesn't have proof of a good economic management (inflation is 9.4%) but it would be a more orderly party and he has a Partygate fine which Kier and Angela can rub in his face for the next 2/3 years. He also doesn't seem to be good at debate, just more close fist arm up 'here's another thing I did' type. Truss says she supported Ukraine but has largely just gone there for photo opps and done nothing in terms of actual support. Truss is worse, Sunak is the lesser of the two evils and indeed the Devil we know rather the Truss we don't want to know.

But no it's a choice between a failed chancellor and the right wing Diane Abbott.
