WMAQ NBC 5 News at 4pm - Open - 10/03/2022

The open to WMAQ's NBC 5 News at 4pm newscast hour, the NBC O&O for the Chicago, Illinois area, recorded on Monday, October 3rd, 2022.

Here's a look at an NBC O&O that I rare bother on getting and that's WMAQ NBC 5 News Chicago. I mainly decided to record this brief open montage in order to get a montage of the new set that they've debuted within mid-September of this year.

Graphics are the "Look S" graphics package by the NBC Arthouse/Works, with this station being the notable first under the NBC O&O division (Telemundo O&Os division had KDEN, Telemundo Denver's "quiet" debut to this graphics package around the same time when WMAQ debuted theirs) to debut the package back in June 2021. Music is the underwhelming custom NBC O&O music package originally composed by the 360 Music division unit of Stephen Arnold Music. There's no voiceover artist on the station, in which they've been quiet about the voiceover talent since the death of Ed Hopkins.

Featuring Stefan Holt (son of Lester Holt), Marion Brooks and Charlie Wojciechowski within this brief montage.

I LOOOVEE the _NBC O&O Package_ ! Maybe not for the group, it's a really underrated theme by Stephen Arnold Music, I'd go so far to say it was one of their best works to sell to an O&O group. I didn't realize they were using all cuts for the WCAU version of the theme. The WCAU cuts really rock the building. Here in Boston they are literally, (I mean *literally* ) using 4 cuts since they moved studios in 2020. They aren't even primary themes.
