Rangers host St Johnstone for the 3pm Scottish Premiership clash at Ibrox on Sunday.

Philippe Clement claimed the Rangers board are “200 per cent” behind him after Gers fans exploded in anger following the 1-1 draw against Dundee which left them 15 points behind William Hill Premiership leaders Celtic.

“Supporters are always behind us when we are good, when we play good games. So today it was not a good game.

“So I understand that they are unhappy about that.

“I know these supporters, that they don’t give up the moment we show quality. It’s about us showing the quality on the pitch and then they are directly behind the team, always.

St Johnstone are closing in on a new signing but manager Simo Valakari revealed their grim predicament at the foot of the William Hill Premiership is making his January recruitment more difficult than planned.

“Yes, 100 per cent, and no hiding (that fact),” said Valakari when asked on Thursday if his club were struggling in their quest to attract players.

“We have been, of course, as any club would, I believe. But I can only talk about our club. We have been working so hard before the transfer window to finalise the players, get them in.
