Get Data - A 'Get Lucky' Science Parody

We're up all night to get data, y'all! This is an oldie, but a goodie. We originally released this music video three years ago. We created it in collaboration with other UCSD students as a promotion for a party that was taking place after SfN. It got a surprising amount of attention back then, and it really inspired us to start Neuro Transmissions in the first place! Even though it's a repost, we thought that this video simply had to be on the channel as a demonstration of how far we've come in these few years. Thank you for watching and we'll be back in three weeks with more new content!

Lyrics by Ethan McBride; all actors/dancers are members and friends of the UCSD Neurosciences Graduate Program.

HUGE thanks to our Patreon supporters, particularly to Ryan M. Shaver and Carrie McKenzie - our Patreon Producers. Thanks you two! Also, big shoutout to our newest patrons, Play The Mind (check him out on YouTube!), Linh Vandermar and Ramond Chin!

Neuro Transmissions is a channel on a mission to bring neuroscience to everyone. It's not rocket surgery, it's brain science! Learn all sorts of fun and interesting things with Alie Astrocyte and Micah Psych every other Sunday by subscribing to the channel. Have a topic you want covered? Let us know in the comments. Share, like, and subscribe for more videos to come! Over and out.

Neuro Transmissions is on the other social medias too:
Snapchat - @neuroyoutube

This video is a parody of the song "Get Lucky" by Daft Punk ft. Pharrell Williams and falls under fair use for the following reasons:
1. The purpose of the video is for nonprofit educational purposes and is intended to benefit the public by teaching scientific concepts through relatable content.
2. The song is a parody and is transformative in nature - both with lyrics and intent. Minimal source material was used to indicate that the song is a parody and lyrics have been changed.
3 It adds new meaning to the song that was not intended or covered in the source material. This song details the trials and tribulations of a graduate student in the sciences, particularly neuroscience.
4. The parody does not infringe on or compete with the source material due to its nature, audience, and message. Any reasonable individual would not confuse this parody with the source material.

All other content is original and/or owned by Neuro Transmissions.

The only thing that could make this more accurate were if the grant proposal was automatically rejected. The sequels should be a shape of you remake: "I'm in love with that p value."

I love "Entire Brain Solved" at 3:18. Been there (or close to it) too many times.

I dabbled with the idea of doing a PhD in 2014, gave up the idea a year later.

And now : Ended up Googling the paper mentioned at 3:17, out of boredom watching OTTs (Amazon Prime etc etc) and Working for Office almost 6 out of 7 days a week.
Just #COVID19 times :)

Wow, loved it! I have a question: since the word data is used as the plural... should the lyric "Data's end is ITS beginning" be "...THEIR beginning?" or does the lyric refer to the word "end" as the singular IT in question? I'm overthinking this... Great job!
