That extra thread around the base of the button is called a shank, it's to put space between the fabric and the button so it can be easily buttoned closed. It's not for reinforcement

I have a relative who used to model for stores like this. They said that many clothing companies have a quality version of a garment to photograph on the model but then mass produce a cheaper version to consumers. That’s often why some retailers will have reviews that complain about the fact that the product ordered didn’t look like the catalog or online picture (e.g., the color is off). That’s because it’s probably not the same.

These aren’t the same pants you’re showing. The legs are tapered of the one in store while the one online has wider legs.

These do not look like the same pants I just received as a new BR customer. I was looking for a nice quality suit and got the Lido wide-leg slacks and the matching blazer. They are DIVINE (anddd bonus - 60% off)! The pants were definitely lined, and both items were very well made. I think the pants you reviewed may have been the Lido in the straight leg version?
