I feel like the best cases of "every song in the soundtrack is the same" is when I don't even notice. I have played this game countless times over the years and somehow never noticed this.

It's too bad Kozue Ishikawa spent only a few years at Nintendo before leaving the gaming and music industry entirely. She made her debut with Link's Awakening and ended with Wario Land 3. Just imagine the incredible soundtracks we could have enjoyed if she had continued composing.

A fun fact is that this leitmotif is so Wario-coded that it was used for Wario's trophy cutscene music in Mario Power Tennis XD

I’d like to mention that this was Kozue Ishikawa‘s last soundtrack. After that she completely disappeared from the public world. I hope that one day we’ll find out what happened to her.

"The flat seventh says this is a Wario game, not a Mario game" What a beautiful statement))

"It's like Wario got a haircut and started going to church"
Thank you for adding this wonderful metaphor complete with visual aid. Never got that transformation when I played

thank for doing what humanity at large is afraid to by investing all available resources into researching wario as much as possible

ive always really loved the lietmotif of the first 3 wario land games (that is, wl1, vb wario land, and wl2) a lot but even if i prefer it, i have to admit that wario land 3 handled its own motif in its ost even more gracefully. its a good twist and expansion on what those games' music did

Absolutely love the recognition for Wario Land 3 here! This game has been fascinating me for over 20 years and is a huge part of why I love video game soundtracks as much as I do now!

Yoshi's Story is another great example of this approach.

WAAH! Unfortunately the only Wario-themed game I played was Wario World for the Gamecube, but it's awesome to experience the soundtrack of Wario Land through these videos; the breakdown and music theory of these tracks really amplify my appreciation for them. Great stuff as always.

People sleep on the Wario franchise, but it's got some solid games with great music, if you take the time to look~
Wario World was always my favorite, and it does that same thing referencing the same melody across multiple levels with differing styles

‘Out of the Woods’ is so good that it was even remixed for Mario Tennis 64 for Wario & Waluigi’s court.

This might be the only channel where I've genuinely watched every video

this is the first time i'm hearing the dotted eighth note trick outside of guitar music - it's a nice fit with this style!

also, those octave jumps on the repetition of the original motif tickle my brain

Another Warioland 3 soundtrack vidéo ! Last Time I was like : ok nice trick combining all these little melodies but what about this big theme we hear during countless hours ?

Bit of a shame you didn’t look at The Forest of Fear music since it has such a big departure from the leitmotif, it’s almost unrecognizable.

Loving that we get to see so much Wario Land 3 from you! This game is extremely influential to me, I love it very dearly, and still consider it to be the most fun and adventurous Wario Land game.

Incorporating Leitmotif into music & changing the specific motives to match the mood of the current state of the game is one of my absolute favorite musical practices. It's really cool to see the ways that Wario Land 3 plays with Leitmotif, such as the differences in the day & night versions of the music while still retaining the melodic core of the music.

WL3 was an integral part of my childhood. I suppose I'm proud that I cleared this game all the way to the PERFECT screen that you get once you've found every treasure in every level, as a 8 or 9 year old kid. For its time it was quite the engaging platformer with a lot of content to go through. And yeah, the constant use of the motif is something I've never forgotten.
