I know this isn't the purpose of your channel, but the towns of Napa and Santa Rosa should be left for the lower-cost travelers. You'll find a lot cheaper hotel options in either if your primary goal its to explore the area and you're not concerned with where you're sleeping as much. Santa Rosa especially is very "Centrally Located" when it comes to exploring wineries, especially if you're going off the Napa-Valley-Centric "beaten path". While the towns themselves are decidedly *not swanky*, they're still in excellent locations and actually where the majority of Wine Country's workers live.

do you mind letting me know which was the hotel you would avoid in Yountville? We are looking at them and worried i might chose the one you thought was overpriced

Why would you not recommend Napa? I was under the impression that there are some amazing restaurants and tasting rooms in downtown. Azur & No Love Lost to mention a couple.

The wineries in Napa and Sonoma are just too expensive now- it just isn't worth it.
