Lyrics
Born in 1947, a prayer sent down from heaven
The only child his parents ever had
In the heart of ‘ole Kentucky, he grew up an Opry junkie
I’m the one who’s lucky to call him my daddy’s dad

By the time he was eleven he’d found his obsession
Cutting burly they raised in the field out back
While he was still a young man, he inherited the farmland
But He stood ten feet tall in his overalls that’s my Daddy’s Dad

He’s the reason why I play and sing
To me that old man means everything
Growing up he was the greatest grandpa any boy could have
My Daddy’s Dad

At 26 he married, and soon my Nana carried
The only son they would ever have
They named that baby Roger, and he became my Father
A stubborn man with an iron hand, just like my Daddy’s Dad

He always dreamed I’d be a big star, He bought me my first guitar,
A six string with a homemade leather strap
Music was his passion, and it’s funny how life happens
The biggest fan I’ll ever have…..that’s my Daddy’s Dad

Mending fences and forgiveness
Hoeing weeds and common sense
Life lessons that he taught me
Someday I’m gonna miss

The reason why I play and sing
To me that old man means everything
Growing up he was the greatest grandpa any boy could have
My Daddy’s Dad

Yeah, growing up he was the greatest Grandpa any boy could have
My Daddy’s Dad

I hope you take this as an extreme compliment. I stumbled on your channel this morning, and wow. I'm old school, 61 years old, I still listen to 90's country the most. One of my all time favorites is Tracy Lawrence. The 1st 30 seconds of you singing I swore to God i was listening to a young Tracy. You're pure country my man. Outstanding. Thank you for being a young man bringing a traditional country sound back to the industry. Very well done, sir.

I'm 65. My Grandad was a horse man. Never saw a better one. He taught me all things horses and mules. He learned from his Dad via Army posts out in West Texas working for the Army, back when Indians were still a thing for settlers and the Cavalry was a horse endeavor. If horses and kids love you, you can judge a man quick. If they love and trust you, you are the real deal.

Great song. Thank you for keeping it real country. The new country is ok but I miss the original like Conway, Jones (greatest ever), Jennings, you get the idea. This is original country. You came out of the same mold as those guys. When I was a kid listening to country I couldn't stand the steel guitar. Now, I don't think a song can be country without it. Life has to knock you around a little bit before you can really appreciate the cry of the steel guitar. Keep up the great work.

I love your old, traditional country music. You don’t have real country music like this anymore that tells a true story about real life. This is real country music.

Lost my daddy’s dad last fall at 90 years old. He cut over 400 acres of grain the previous harvest and about 75 harvests before that … miss him every - drive his truck and replay all the stories he told For those that still have grand dad around - Take every minute you’re given to spend with him and be thankful for every one!
