There is a podcast called “Meet the Composer,” in which modern composers give candid and fascinating interviews about their lives and process. Hearing about their music from this perspective inspired me a lot, so I wanted to provide a similar series to fans of my music. So, here is a nice look behind the scenes of my band's process and the creation of Freak Machine. .

And my appreciation for your music just grows and grows. With every listening I discover new things and through this series I understand where certain parts come from and how in general things work (on these album). Before this series I heard the things you are mentioning but now I actually understand what it is that I hear. Great! I wish more artists would give us a behind the scenes. It just increases my knowledge and with that my appreciation for the art they make. Thanks once again.

My ear has always been particularly good when it comes to identifying intervals and sight singing... but I was always horrifyingly bad at solfege... for some reason the two things that never really could click with me were solfege and sight reading on my instrument. This video series is seriously helping me out more and more become the musician end goal that I want to achieve.

I'll look into Modus Novus, based on your recommendation. I could always use some more music books since I ended up not going to Berklee (I think I'll regret this decision later in life) and self-catalyze my education in music.
Keep it up Fake Dr. Levin. I really love your content.

How does tonality relate to the intervals? For instance if you have a C major triad in root position you have a major third, a minor third, and a perfect fifth. Why is the C on the bottom considered the root? Is tonality more a factor of how humans perceive music and isn't something that can be reduced down simply to intervallic relationships?

I know ear training is a pretty big subject but do you have any recommendations for simply pitch/interval related training? Or maybe a progression of studies? Got the album on bandcamp, really impressive/dynamic music!

What do you do in ear training at Berklee?

Wait, did you really sing these melodies with a single syllable in that class? I thought maybe you'd say they came up with different syllables for the melodic intervals.

Did you use move-able or fixed do at Berklee?

Just curious. At my school we are moving to fixed do from move-able after 2 semesters.

Thanks
