These are the Criterion movies I got on July 50% off sale. for $532. To Die For, Thelma & Louise, The Roaring Twenties, La haine HATE, 100 Years of Olympic Films (Includes Tokyo Olympiad), Rebecca, David Lean Direct Noel Coward (4 movies: In Which We Serve, This Happy Breed, Blithe Spirit, Brief Encounter), My Own Private Idaho, Passion of Joan of Arc, The Heiress, Woman in the Dunes, Badlands, Targets, Romeo and Juliet, After Hours. Some others I found online for free so returned those (Anatomy of a Fall, Summertime on Hulu). 8 of these were cheaper or available on Amazon when out of stock on B&N.

I picked up 4ks of Farewell My Concubine, Branded to Kill, Blue Velvet, Peeping Tom, and The Rules of the Game and Blu rays of Cure, Dogfight, and Floating Weeds. I caught the new 4k restoration of Farewell My Concubine in theaters and it was beautiful. So stoked that Criterion released it!

I picked up
- All that Money Can Buy (also known as The Devil and Daniel Webster) - absolutely phenomenal film. It was filmed by RKO in between Citizen Kane and The Magnificent Ambersons (which was pointed out in the supplements), and it really does feel like it. What a great blind buy, and I highly recommend!
- The Victim Sin - very enjoyable classic, and a great blind buy. Heavy drama, music, and a little bit of Mexican noir!
- I am Cuba - I haven't seen yet
- Peeping Tom - Haven't seen yet

And I think I'm going to head back and pick up Orson Welles's The Trial. I passed on it last year, and I think I'm ready to pick it up now.

I got a handful. Not as many as usual because Kino was having their sale at the same time...and now Arrow announced their sale also. They're trying to break us all with these concurrent sales.

I ended up going with Pat Garrett, La Haine, Wings of Desire, Perfect Days, Risky Business, The Roaring Twenties, Lone Star, and The Underground Railroad.

I've already picked up The Tales of Hoffman. I was immediately drawn to the Powell, Pressburger, and Moira Shearer combo. I'm also thinking of getting Night of the Hunter, and an IG poll of mine decided I should get House 😊

Immediately grabbed The Underground Railroad & the Floating Weeds set. Almost certainly getting the Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid 4K and have several more in my maybe list depending on funds.

These sales are bloody dangerous! Lol. I picked up my first order today but I suspect next pay I might put one more in because there are still a handful I really want to pick up like the Pasolini 101 set, Roaring Twenties and The Trial. I wouldn't mind Pat Garret, World Cinema V 4 and Ranown Westerns 4k as well (though I also have the Indicator set). I do use a US based forwarding service to get these to Australia so it helps with these sales and other ones where the label won't ship directly OS like Shout Factory and Kino Lorber.

Anyway for my first up haul I picked up 7 in total: The Lamorisse Red Balloon set, the Freaks set, Pinocchio 4k, Thelma and Louise 4k, Malcolm X 4k, Wall-E 4k and ... The new Barry Lyndon 4k set ....ok so I might be lying about that last one, sorry Elliott 😄. Final one was La Bamba on Blu ray. Can't wait to get them !

You're right that there's something for everyone, even someone like me, who ignores 85% of their output. 😂
But I already caught up with everything I missed and wanted last year, so this month I only got To Die For and Girlfight. They didn't have Bound in stock.
All others I wish will be coming out later, so for next sale then.

I ordered Lone Star, Thief, and Farewell, My Concubine.

There is very little in the collection that I don’t have and still want. I’m nothing even close to a completist. I’d say they probably only release five or six titles a year I have any interest at all in owning — enough, with the occasional backlist title thrown in, to see me buy two or three each sale and be content. 🙂

So far I’ve got Bound 4K, Blue Velvet 4K, Pink Flamingoes, The Life Aquatic, Cure, Muholland Dr 4K, Pat Garrett, Peeping Tom 4K and One Eyed Jack’s. It was also nice to see a few young gen z folks like me buying a few of those films when I was shopping despite majority these days are into gaming/TikTok. The best sellers over here so far in my store is Bound and Blue Velvet. All cleaned out
