How does an astronaut gets back to earth from space? Felix Baumgartner made it seem like all you need is to jump back to earth from outer space, but its a lot more complex than that!

Just seems so amazing that they worked all this out in the 50’s and 60’s .putting men on the moon and returning them safely just seems so unbelievable to me, so fascinating to have moments were I’m in the ocean swimming around the waves then look up and think we have left our own atmosphere.

Can you imagine how small the capsule is? I have seen it in James Asquith's Kennedy Space Center video. Hardly 2 people can fit in there. But still 3-4 astronauts sit in that compact space.

It gets the idea, but with lot of (commonly made) mistakes. Such as course correction burn vs. attitude adjustment or the reduction of the reentry heating to only friction.
Yet it gives the average layman the idea, I‘ll give you that.
